I came across a fluted barrel stainless version recently, and I'd like to know how they run & shoot.

Anybody have anything to say about them?

Thanks!

Nothing real special about them. The factory plastic grip either fit you well or not at all. The laminated grip was friggin huge. I still have one squirreld away somewhere but it hasn’t seen daylight in many years. Seem to remember it ran alright but never felt good in the hand.

In my opinion there are much better choices available.

I had a 22A and don't think that it is nearly the gun that the 2206 is.

If you want a S&W .22 semi-auto for casual shooting or field use, I'd recommend the 2206 and the 422/622 over the 22A 24/7/365. I shoot the 2206 better than the 422/622 because the greater weight helps me hold steadier. The 422/622 are nicer to carry because they are lighter, but when it comes time to shoot I like the 2206.

I had one of the first 22A's when they colored in the lettering and markings and never had a problem with it. The later ones with the gray frames were problematic. I knew several that had to be replaced by S&W because the frames cracked, and they weren't high mileage guns.
I earlier had a 422 with no problems. Like 260 said, it was a little light for really good shooting. As a "kitgun", it was fine.

Thanks guys!

Moving on from that one. Really should spend the money on a new scope anyway...

Mine shoots really well. Never had an issue except the polymer grip started to decompose (got sticky). Mine's no kit gun.
