I have what is identical to a model 1912 but is not stamped as Savage any place. The only stamps on it are the SN on the bottom tang strap and on the RH side of the barrel just behind the front sight it is stamped S A over a circular symbol with what would look to be a pair of upward pointing wings and under the symbol 11-08. Was this model previously manufactured by Stevens or possibly Springfield.

Jim, It's hard to say without pictures, the Model 1912 was only made as a Savage marked gun as far as I know. I would consider it possible that a barrel from a different gun was put on it, all the marking other than the serial number would have been on the barrel.

Thanks Gene, I seem to always have a problem getting pictures on this sight but maybe I can get my wife to give it a try in a bit.
