Thanks for the suggestion. Very good and interesting to see from the German perspective. Kept up until 2 AM Tuesday night watching the first two episodes.

Get past the first episode which makes a big deal about how the men fought together but couldn't go to the same bar together - you think it's going to be all revisionist "systemic racism" stuff at first. But it picks up a lot after that and episodes 2, 3 and 4 are pretty darn good, really good in places.

It's done in a form of rotoscoping or animation over live action and sometimes that takes away from the impact since it reduces the figures to cartoons; I also spotted a few military inaccuracies. But that's nit picking, don't let any of that get in the way of just watching the story. I give it four stars at least.

i finally figured it was about time to watch "the Liberator" on the 45 regiment during WWII. It had specific impact to me, as of a certain member of the 45th, a well known figure at the time, broughty home a schutzenfest rifle picked up as they went into germany.. beautiful single shot rifle and in a off caliber, has silver enlay logos on buttstock with innitials, whose i have never been able to find out. it sat in a closet for many years due to the ammunition question, until my grubby paws got on it. i got the brass, lead bullets, dies, and could load for it, but have never shot it.
sure on my mind after watching the movie.

Netflix:

Aquarius - Series set in the late 60's with David Duchovny as a detective. Fair warning, you will want to throat punch the guy playing Charles Manson.

Mosul - the new movie just released. Not the documentary. Although, you may like that, too.

Aquarius is a well done series.

I'm usually hesitant to recommend it though because like Ozarks, there is a lot of butt slamming.

LOL

I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.

Yeah. A couple of the characters can't figure out if they're gay or not.

KInda like that troll here who was gonna "prove" he wasn't a homo.

Gallipoli is on Prime.

If you're a WWI nerd you will love it.

I've been so desperate for movies I've started watching Chinese made Samurai movies. (yes I realize Samurai are Japanese)

They are essentially Westerns, just pretend the coolie hat is a stetson, the lead character can't grow a beard for schit and they all must be from Eastern Canada because you can't understand what they are saying.

Oh, and they use swords instead of colts.

If you can tolerate subtitles, I watched one called 13 Assassins (Prime?). 13 Assassins is basically The Dirty Dozen/Magnificent 7 variety,

I find myself turning the volume up when I can't follow the subtitles. I guess its like turning the radio down in the car when you're lost.

Many of the Korean films are decent and some are very good, albeit with the same caveat about subtitles. "Psychokinesis" is a bit offbeat but very watchable. "Train to Busan" and "#Alive" are two of the better zombie movies if one likes that genre.
