CVA Mountain Rifle, circa 1985.
Their rendition of the Hawken, complete with double barrel wedges, was a well regarded rifle for both hunting and target shooting.
#11 Percussion cap.
Ramrod is new.
Barrel is NOS from Deer Creek, eight shots fired total. Original barrel had a messed up breech and it was not replaceable. Strange set-up where the flash hole exited the front of the breech plug. The breech design now on this is how it should be. Factory fitted on the NOS barrel. 1-66 twist
Barrel and all steel has been browned. Stock has normal handling dings, nothing serious or notable, see pictures.
This is a solid rifle. Unfortunately, it is considerably more solid than I am these days, so it simply sits here.
I don't know anything about the contraptions CVA sells these day, but the company got its traction building top-shelf sidelock muzzleloaders. This rifle is a good example of their best work. Deserves to be used and shot, like it was built for.
$340 to your door. No FFL needed.
