Oldest granddaughter is in FFA, and we have gotten fruit from her for the past 3 years. This year, her senior year, they didn't sell it. Covid, I guess.

We sold Florida Citrus here in Pennsylvania each fall. Those Tangelos and Oranges were always in demand.
After I graduated, many friends and neighbors were worried about getting it since I wasn’t selling, so I even helped sell before I left for basic.
We used to cook and sell apple butter too. Fall was always a busy time for us in school.
FFA will always have my support. It’s a great organization for youths.

My wife is a HS science teacher in a school with a strong FFA program, so we buy every year. Great program for kids and always happy to support it.

Every time I see something related to FFA I realize how much things have changed over the years with schools, though. We sold magazine subscriptions as a fund raiser for FFA when I was in HS forty years ago and my brother and I won the top two prizes for most sales and the overall drawing one year. The prizes? A Win. Model 94 .30-30 and a Marlin .22 rifle. During one of my last years of teaching in a small rural school the contraband dog hit on my pickup truck in the parking lot...there was an empty 12 ga. hull under the back seat that had rolled out of the vest after shooting skeet the day before.

Good news is we have growing interest and I think are now up to 87 school districts in Kansas that have HS trap teams as part of the clay target league.

Last time I got my ass kicked was while trying to load a couple 250 pound FFA hogs to the county fair.

Daughter is the FFA instructor, down at Bernalillo.
I need to check on what they are doing.

Wish I had saved my FFA jacket. I was back on parents farm in west central Ks a few weeks ago. A high school friend of mine had his granddaughter stop by selling FFA fruit. Mom bought some, I gave a donation. And I had my brother that lives in Oklahoma City bring me some Blue and Gold sausage. Good stuff. I like supporting the FFA.
When I was in high school, for money making, we had “work days.” We would haul bales, mow lawns, trim trees, etc and take donations for the FFA.

HS sold FL citrus. Sometimes we had to chase them down once the kids were out of skool.

Sold it as a member and I ate a ton of it.

Never have been petitioned to buy any since I graduated.

Kids must not have to peddle much these days.

I hear that the FAA confiscates a lot of fruit crossing through the airports on the way to prohibited destinations. I'm glad that it doesn't end up in a dumpster and just go to waste.

7mm,
Ridge and Bedford both ordered through Queen City.
Usually at the same time. Once i lsarned that, all winter i knew
where to buy our citrus. Then John sold it.
The stuff they sell hasn't been near as good lately.
Wanted to try again this year, but I think we missed it.
And don't personally know anyone anymore.

I have mine too and it fits better.

I learned a lot and had first hand experience in many things.
Seriously - I learned HOW to spray 2,4,5,T (Agent Orange) safely BEFORE it earned it's nickname. To say it's very effective is an understatement. 2,4D is still available and is pretty good but not as.

Now IF you have a permit.... Garlon 4 is the Rats Rear !

Have a lot of fond memories of FFA.

Richard,

You are truly blessed to have grandchildren following in their grandpa's work boots.
