First, thank you Bobby and several others for your suggestions. I ended up buying a Zeiss 1x4-24 from Europtics for $424. I have a couple otherV4s that I like and assuming that Zeiss is upgrading this scope and blowing them out at a good price I bought one.
Really sucks that the few times I’ve asked for advice someone turns it into a pissing match, I’m sure his family is proud.

The Burris Four X 1.5-6x42 that Doug at Cameraland has on sale would work like a charm -- unless you are looking for a more compact or perhaps straight-tubed model. But for the $$, that Burris will be hard to beat. Is this sale and item still available. Didn’t see it on his website.
