I’m looking to purchase a 284 Winchester rifle in a bolt action configuration. Pm with what you have, or if you know where I can find one. Thanks in advance!

Up. Still looking.

Also, thanks to whoever bought the Forbes referenced above out from under me, before I even had a chance to respond. Classy.

I have a Ruger 77 in 284, bought it new in 1970. It's been a great rifle, but if I were looking for something like it today and had to have it in a short action, I'd buy a 270 wsm.
Ammo and cases can be a genuine pita to find and there is no commonly available case from which to form the 284.
Just my $.02

I have a couple of 284 winchester bolt rifles. Browning made a special run of A bolts about six years ago for Grice wholesale and I have one of those. My love affair with the 284 began about 20 years ago when I bought a 1895 mauser that had been re-chambered to 284. I finally built my dream rifle a couple of years ago. Pre-64 winchester model 70 action with a kreiger custom barrel contoured just like the original pre-64 winchester barrel. It is sitting in a custom carved and checkered exhibition grade walnut stock. Yes, the ammo is a little hard to find but winchester does a run of it every couple of years, they did one in 2017 I think. The 284 is not hard on brass so it can be reloaded several times and handloading is what makes the 284 really shine. Mine really likes 140 grain nosler ballistic tips. Brass can be found pretty regularly at gun shows and on gunbroker. Graf and sons has some in stock right now. I have more than I will ever be able so shoot so if you do find a rifle hit me up and I will part with some brass to get you started. I also have RCBS dies I would sell.

That sounds amazing! My bucket list includes both a .284 and a .358 built on a Pre-64 Winchester model 70 action! Someday!
