It's crazy. I posted same auction last night when it still had 8 minutes to go.

Don't forget that GB is adding sales tax to that price. I love 99s,but this is plain insane.

GB is only unilaterally colecting sales tax on all transactions starting 1/1/21. Sales tax must only currently be collected by the seller if the seller has a store front in the state you live in.

I dunno'-as some of ya posted in the two other threads regarding this sale and the one with the 99R (Fireball posting), something does seem funny. At least in my view these two weren't up to the value of the final bid sales. The guy who won the 99R ($2006) was 2nd bidder in this $3325 99F sale one day later. Must have deep pockets, not know the true value, and/or not know the bidding '101' on GB to avoid overpaying and not get caught up in auction fever. If it was anybody here on the forum, I apologize, but WOW-IMO be prepared if ya ever want to sell those two. I like the sellers 'description' MO-some sellers barely tell ya anything, but this seller writes a small 'War and Peace' novel about everything he sells, even Russian Mosin/Nagant rifles.

I'm not accusing anyone in the sales of these two 99's, but IMO 'red flags' pop up when firearms always sell way beyond their normal value on GB and other auction sites. GI isn't as suspect as that is a set price where ya can negotiate with the seller. Back in 2016 after the then election of D.Trump was over and the AR15 price madness cooled and went back to realistic values, I was bidding on several same model Colt AR's from the same seller. A long time seller with sales in the 2000 plus range, all being A+, with a established gun shop store. I noticed after bidding ended that the bids for the same three model Colts had the same bidder, never seemly bidding to win, just to seemly to 'jack' up the bid. Looking at other firearms being offered by the same seller on GB, the same bidder was always present, never really winning anything, just bidding in the last hours/day of a firearms auction time. The Colt AR15 I won had its final bid value jump $25 after the few others who had been bidding on it quit.. The unknown bidder did win a few here and there, but in keeping an eye on the seller, I noticed the unknown bidders guns would always show up again by the seller. I called the seller and asked them about this, of course they denied any 'Shill' bidding. I did contact GB and just advised what things I had observed and seen with the unknown bidder and the seller later on. Can't say if the seller was ever reprimanded, they continued to sell and still do, BUT after that incident I watched their sales/offerings and never saw the 'unknown' bidder again bidding on anything the seller offered. Draw yer on conclusions there, I have mine.

If this trend continues, my collection will be down to an H&R 20 gauge single shot slug gun, the 1919 NRA, and my 03A3 that my Dad bought for $14.

I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.

Prices on 03A3s went nuts years ago!

True. And I never figured that one out either since 03A3's in the world of Springfields are like post-mils in the Savage world. (And I haven't come to grips yet with post-mils gaining ground either.) 03A3's: poorly finished and built with a preponderance of stamped sheet metal parts, but which shot ok and served a purpose of sorts (but which were rarely, if ever, issued to front line combat troops).

I just got done browsing both GB and GI.
Some of the prices on cobbled up 99's was just plain shocking!

It's RARE. Says so right in the description.

Actually it has a 22" barrel which isn't common, but I doubt that is what is driving the bidding.

I have a 300 EG that I am going to sell. I'm tempted to describe it as RARE.

99A chamberings after 1975 (edited) had 22" barrels. Seems to be more 250 Sav than 308s, and more .308s than .243s. I think the .375 win and .300 Sav are seen less frequently in the 99A.

I think all the 99A chamberings after 1974 had 22" barrels.

I think it was 76, but regardless, you see way more 20" barrels than 22's. At least that has been my observation.

I have one a lot better than that one.

I still need a 22" 99-A in .250 but will stay an incomplete set if I have to pay that price.
