Boomers like to hoard random odd things, like bulk crappy .22lr ammunition. Which is fine since they leave the good SK, wolf mt, eley, and cci target stuff alone....its not 2 cents a round I guess. I just barely fit into the boomer category however you're SOL on the good stuff if you're shopping behind me

I have a hard time resisting the miscellaneous parts collections.
40 different sizes of washers or bolts? That's got to come home with me. I never know what part I'll need for the next project.

Not generally a hoarder, but age teaches a guy to have a few extra things on hand that make more sense to have around than to wish you had around, but don't.

I finally unloaded a couple of huge totes of old gun mags this spring. Must have been 100lbs worth. Was something I used to always keep, and I hung onto a few issues. I am guessing closer to 1000 lbs, probably more. Two four foot book shelves with five levels loaded full. Some nearly 50 years old. My kids will probably burn them after I am gone.

Dam it. Ok, I do hoard. Jim, whole hams? I buy those thanks and butts for $.99/#. Sore Dick deal, you just can't beat it. Slice it off for sammies, ham and eggs, whatever. It keep a looonnngggg time. If you throw half of it away, it's still cheap. Cook the very end for pot pie or beans. Soon be some of them waiting for me. Bet we have a couple in a freezer now!

I have a bit of an aversion to hording because Dad hoards all kind of schit. After the tornado in Dallas last October, the folks' property took a pretty good hit, and aside from clearing up 60+ large trees, it took me a solid month to go through, clean out and reorganize the garage and workshop - and this was working full days. And this didn't even take into account the 2 story building in the back, which was packed full of crap! One the flip side, Dad had multiples of nearly everything you could possibly need for a project (or anything else you could imagine) - the problem was finding it.
However, there are still things I stockpile to a certain extent, but not nearly to the degree Dad does. After all, who the heck needs 17 commodes, 10 broken-down lawn mowers and tractors or 15 bottle jacks (only 3 of which worked?) Don't get me started on paint - spray and otherwise)... And [bleep] 35 - 40 year old garden hoses and garden hose attachments... And vacuum cleaners, parts and accessories - I could have opened a fargin' vacuum store for Pete's sake! Dad's 81, so my Marxist brother and I are attempting to get a handle on things now. Unfortunately, it seems that real progress is only made when I'm in town.
At any rate, the items I like to have on hand are the following: Bear in mind that these items are kept to a 'reasonable' level.
1) Fasteners of all types 2) Various steel & iron 3) Tools (power and hand) 4) Ammo/guns/archery 5) Automotive oil and filters 6) Dry goods 7) Pickled Leprechaun 8) TP 9) Various office supplies 10) Boxes & packing supplies, inc. tape 11) Camping/outdoor equipment and supplies inc. fishing equip. 12) Old USA made vices and axes (which I restore) 13) Stereo/Hi-Fi equipment 14) Books 15) Lumber 16) Work table steel legs 17) Guns 18) Fountain pens/ink 19) Knives 20) Rope/line/chain 21) Padlocks 22) etc.
...Maybe I do have a problem?

Crown victoria police interceptors They're especially good looking after the moss starts growing on them, eh? I keep lumber. Drives my wife nuts when there's a 17" piece of 1x2 laying around. Or a 9" 2x4. Her: "Why you keeping that junk around" Me: "so I don't have to cut an 8' one, or worse, drive 15 miles to town and spend money on an overpriced 8' one to cut down to 9" " Pallets for stacking scheidt on, like cross stacking and drying firewood. And more importantly...........................for constructing chicken Gulags and compost bins. I like to buy multiple bags of Costco "white bag" chocolate chips. 4 (5?) ingredients and I eat them as they are right out of the bag. Cheaper than a $2 dark chocolate bar too. The bottom cardboard from frozen and take and bake pizza. Makes a decent target, not far off the size of a center mass on a humanoid figure. I figure BGs don't come with an orange 2" circle on their chest so sometimes I just practice with a blank circle at different yardages. The wrapping paper they use for packing crap when one moves. basically a newsprint sized sheet. Get stapled over the used target backers at the range, then my smaller (8x11) targets go on that. Nice clean area to see misses off the paper, especially after installing a scope or sighting in a new to me rifle. Last movers were nice to me and left me a whole bundle of them! String, from straw bales, and I even save the strings from opening bags of chicken feed and such. Screws, nuts, bolts, washers etc. As someone mentioned, if I need one I don't have to go to town. I do sometimes have to dig through an empty soup can of them to find the right one.
