Hello All,
I’m hoping expertise here can help with determining a manufacture date / year.

Remington model 7600, .308 pump
barrel codes: X 10 8
receiver serial number: 8524234

According to my Dad he purchased it new, somewhere around 1988.

The assembly code consists of 2 alpha characters on the left side of the barrel just forward of the receiver.

Here are barrel pics. “REP” is on right side as holding the rifle to fire and the “X” is on the left side

The barrel is 23 inches, if I measured correct

The barrels are cataloged as being 22".

The assembly code looks like OI to me. O is the month code for July and I was used as the year code in 1976, 1988, and 2014.

22” makes sense if measuring from edge of receiver vs. what inserts into the receiver. Seems like it’s a 1988 manufacture gun. Thank you for insight that it’s probably OI vs. zero one!
