I don't know how much your scope weighs but shouldn't be a problem to cut a pound or darn close to it off that weight.

A stock swap for a quality synthetic will help a bunch. Those were some heavy stocks on those rifles.

Well right off the bat see if you can find lightweight rings and base to use with a Leupold Vari X ll 2x7, bet that would knock half a pound off the weight. Sure like mine, although it sure did not like that 70 buck a box Nosler ammo with 160 accubonds. Good luck. Mb

For reference, my custom shop AWR with factory McM stock, talleys and a 3.5X10 is 1 lb. lighter.

Mb Those DNZ mounts are fairly lightweight, I had ordered talleys but the vendor sent me 2 front mounts so I had to send them back. Already had the DNZ’s at home. I’ve only shot the 150 corelokts so far and they shoot really well for me.

If I'm not mistaken I believe Judman really liked the factory Rem 150's also and they are at $50/ box. Finding brass can be tough don't pass on any 300 rsaum it reforms nicely but you need to seat long for the fireform. Mb

Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.

As I recall I was using up a part box of 140 sierras and some 139 gr. Horn sp for the fire form load right at 58.0 grs 760 just under 3000fps. Seated the bullets long to force the case head against the bolt face so the shoulder would move forward. The 300's shoulder is short of the 7's.. that is why they weren't loaded nearer to max. 3 shot groups were nickle sized at 50 yds.MB

If I can get 150’s and 160’s to 3000 without problems I’ll be ok with that.

I just swapped the factory synthetic in a M7 in 7-08 for a Bansner and dropped 1 lb 2 oz of weight. Factory was 38 oz and the finished Bansner was 26 oz, even with the 1" Limbsaver. The factory stocks make the M7 extremely butt heavy. Much better balance now.
I'm at 6lb 3 oz with a VX3i 2.5-8×36 in weaver aluminum bases and vertical split aluminum Leupold rings
