Call Doug for a great deal on Leica Trinovid 8x42. I did and I’ve been very happy with mine hunting in all conditions. You’ll have to pay a lot more for better glass. I’ve not handled Tract, Meopta, and others mentioned. No need for me. 😎 I'd go 8x32, and if you can get either for $800 I'd be an owner. The current Trinovid, and former Swaro SLC are the best buys in quality optics.

These tracts must be pretty good... is there a better priced place to buy them instead of amazon?

Dd you Guys know that Tract has a 15% discount for Law Enforcement and Military Guys...? My Buddy is a LE... so he is getting hooked up with them right now.
Thanks so much Guys... my friend thinks I'm a hero for helping him out... but I told him that it was all 24 Campfire Guys.

Get on Tract's email list. They send out e-coupons all the time. There was a 10% off site wide a week or two ago. They also have really reduced demonstrators available from time to time.

The Co-Owner... Jon... just told me on the phone that it's German glass.... Schott Schott glass is a German Co., but I believe makes glass all over the world, including Japan and China, so I'm doubtful the glass is necessarily "Made in Germany." More likely Japan or China at the Tract price point, but dunno. I haven't looked through the Tracts (looking forward to), but there is a wide variety of Schott glass (it’s not all the same). I'm not a huge fan of the Schott glass Leica switched to around 2015. Just a bit too into the blue spectrum for my taste, and one reason I prefer the Leica Ultravid HD's over the newer HD Plus. The difference in light transmission is essentially imperceptible (mostly between the ears) and I prefer a warmer, more relaxed view of non-Schott glass. A minor and very personal nitpick as Schott is obviously good stuff.

Got a feeling that somewhere down the line someone will wish he had called Doug.... Merry Christmas, all! 🎄

I have 10X42 Ultrivids and I prefer my Tract Toric 12.5X50 especially in low light. I bought my Torics as demos and only paid $500, I paid a lot more for the Ultravids
I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first

I’m currently looking through a MeoStar and a Tract. The Tract is better imho. Not by much but it’s the better optic imho. Can’t go wrong either way
Tract is my current all around fav in 8x42...for birding at least

I looked 1000 yds across our lake with my Friend's Toric 12.5x50 Binoculars that he just bought... and all I can say is this..."THEY ARE TRULY AMAZING." There is NO way a guy can go wrong by having a pair of them... NO WAY!
