From what I've read, this stuff was already part of a spending bill that likely would have passed anyway. The covid part was an additional package that was tacked on. We'd not have known about the extent of the pork if not for the uproar over the Covid spending.

In this morning's news, a number of leading left wingers are agreeing with Trump that Americans need $2000. However, I didn't read a single word about reducing handouts to foreign countries or cutting out any of the other crap. All the hype is just about adding to the spending, not redirecting it.
