All right, I'm not saying anything bad here.
I have heard it's hard to buy a good cut of beef in Texas.
I've been in Texas a couple of times, and all I recall eating is pizza at Pizza Hut in Longview. , and a Sunday buffet with pecan pie.
What is the straight of it?

You can get excellent beef here.
Just shop for it at a butcher shop that sells USDA Choice or Prime.
Most supermarkets nationwide sell USDA Select.
The HEB supermarket here sells USDA Prime, hand cut steaks to order.

The way I understand it.....there isn't much prime beef comes out of Texas.
Americans dont eat very damn much prime beef anyway....unless its imported by Costco.
Corn fed is an inferior product to barley fed anyway...........

Rockin nailed it. Plenty of real good beef here. It’s all about sourcing.

Like everything else in Texas, it sucks balls. There is absolutely no reason for anyone from Iowa or anywhere else north of Oklahoma to EVER set foot in Texas. Stay home and avoid the disappointment.

Hmm, and it's been many years since I've heard that.
I have heard it takes corn to make the fat/tallow white, not yellow.

What is the straight of it? I certainly recall it being better than buying a steak in Alaska.
Yup.

here in Minnesota some of us eat some real good corn fed Angus beef and its tasty and tender, makes your mouth water when steak has been seasoned for 2- 3 days in fridge, then fried in melted butter in your cast iron skillet ,with lots of butter fried onions and mushrooms ,drippies put on top of this rare fried steak on your plate, then waiting 5 minutes then enjoy. can`t say i have ever had good beef steak in Texas so far,but i have had a tasty steak in Wilbux,Montana with some cold beers !

Please keep telling everyone how bad TX sucks. Hopefully the useless idiots from the left coast and the NE will quit moving here.

Most BBQ is made from subprime cuts so maybe the good stuff gets sold elsewhere? Reminds me of a friend whose family owned a Christmas tree farm because they always had the worst looking tree up in their house.

The HEB supermarket here sells USDA Prime, hand cut steaks to order. They cost more but at least they are still tough. Yep, meat markets.

Barry, Kaywoodie, do you know the name of the great BBQ place ive heard of east of Marble Falls. Id like to try it if its half as good as Blacks.
