Since the previous owner was into stashing firearms. Was he an old guy who mighta had memory problems ??? Or dead and you bought the property from people who inherited it???
Either way.... You might wanna spend some time metal detecting that place. Conspicuous or innocuous landmarks Lone trees. Rises on ground. Areas around buildings.
To delibrately hide guns like that and you discover em. Probably other stuff around the place to be found no one had any idea of when you bought the place.

Holy crap kingston! That’s quite the find so far. Sooo, are you up yet and working on the unveiling of what’s in that rolled up rag below the bayonet? If you showed that H&R then the 1903-A3, that means the next one is better.

OMG. I just checked. It does appear to be a 10ga. It's not marked, but a 12ga shell is too small. LOL. The 10Ga. shells are all packed up still. I'll get 12344Mag over here to test fire it. Youtube is calling. Lol, Hell yeah!! When it comes to guns i don't mind being the Guinea Pig...........

Makes a guy wonder where the ammo and cash stash is? Just thinking out loud but somewhere in your new place is some bp , .490" lead balls, #11 caps, patches, gi m1 or m2 ball , 10 ga shells. Basement ceiling or interior wall panel I'll bet. You call it treasure I'd call it added extra value of the 1 st order. Mb

If he had a wife that he couldn't account for, I'd think long and hard before I started metal detecting and digging holes.

The elderly cousin that I bought the farm from here where I live had guns stashed between the mattresses on the beds. Of course they all had some amount of surface rust on them. Winchester 1906, Walther PPK, Springfield 1868 50-70, and Colt 1851 Navy. The Colt was pretty well too rusted to be restored, and the Springfield was almost as bad, but the others cleaned up just fine. The Winchester is a pest gun around the farm, and the PPK was my CC pistol for a long time.

T/C Hawkens are neat,my buddy who is into original guns says historically they don't resemble any original type.no he don't like them but I do . On the left side back by the breach is the serial # if it has a K prefix it started life as a kit gun ( one you had to blue or brown, assemble and finish the wood.) No prefix allready to fire. A few years back a guy could buy T/C's used at any gunshow for a $100 to 200 bucks not anymore. Took me years to find a clean 54. Still don't have a T/C 32 or 58. Kingston I think on your new place you might get a bang out of using your new guns no pun intended. Mb
