Last year I bought a little farm in Michigan that I've been slowly moving into. Today, I was cleaning out a room in the basement that had an old work bench in it. The previous owner left me several of these benches spread around the property's buildings. They all bear the same design and were all clad in pressed board, which, like any reasonably minded man, I loathe. The frames are cobbled together with 2x stock on PT 4x6 legs. I've been stripping these down to the frame and refitting them with plywood tops. As a bonus he used spiral shank 8p nails to attach two layers of pressed board for a top. Each nailed successively.

These all have a single full width shelf underneath built on 2x4 rails. Oddly, he'd covered both the bottom and the top of the rails leaving a 3.5" deep compartment in the shelf. He did this on all of them. The bench in the basement is the forth one of these that I've salvaged. This bench was a repository for the 50 years of leftover paint cans that were generously left for me. After clearing out the old paint, I removed the pressed board shelf top expecting to find a rodent den or some other cross section of nature. The compartments of three other benches like this were empty, but not this one.
Old paint... rodents nest , pressed board etc.... think of it as karma..... for the links you traumatized us with...... smile
Glad you are getting settled in brother Kingston
What, no early 70's stash of dirt weed? half rotted Playboy mags? A half pint of Old Grandad, fully aged now?

Just some old paint cans?

When I bought my 7 Acre RANCH!, I at least got an old cows skull up in the tree, some vertebrae, and a bunch of old gray mule deer antlers, some already chewed on by the rats.

This is like wheel of fortune
Sunsabitches.

A few here know about the 7 Acre RANCH! title.

But Kingston is going to be a bastid if he holds out showing us what else is in there.

Cray Cray dude.
Inspiration for this thread comes from those unboxing videos on Youtube were some inna-net milf gets a big delivery of Chinese lingerie and scented massage oils from Amazon, just tweaked for loonies.
Tryin' to figure out from the shape of that one in the upper left wrapped up in a shirt. Paratrooper M1?

Pistol in that one in the lower right perhaps, and if so, I hope it's well wrapped in an oily rag being in what looks like a plastic bag.

No telling what else.

I like the long knife.

Now down to 22F outside and we're losing heat.

I hope to see at least one of them goodies when I get back.!

Well, I thought the sight and barrel band looked somewhat similar, but there seems to be too much angle to the buttstock.

Only if you click of Beavs or Kingstons links.........
I'm cleaning out this area to sent up a reloading bench. A few weeks ago I bought some nice benches from the calibration lab at a nuclear power plant that's being decommissioned.
You tease. Take it off, take it all off.

Kingston, congrats on the treasure, whatever it turns out to be.

About thirty years ago Dad stashed a US surplus Krag in his house somewhere. Probably just wrapped in an old blanket and has been at ambient conditions all these years.

Maybe someone stumbled across it and stole it, but none of the family has been able to find it. It originally belonged to my paternal grandma's father. It would be cool to have it, but even if we found it now, it would probably be rusted beyond salvage.
I gotta go to bed. I hope I can sleep thinking about what's in those socks. I'm leaving cookies and whisky out if that helps.

See you in the morning.
Very Cool!

LOL!!
I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but you might want to read up on those National Ordinance 1903-A3 rifles. I bought one from K-Mart when I was in high school in the early 60's. It wouldn't feed shells from the left hand side of the magazine. I took it back. I think the parts were all good original military surplus but the actions were newly made. Hope yours works out to be a good one.

Helluva find, Kingston! Dang... congrats.

I wish it was a 410. I had one as a kid that I sold to my high school boss for his kid.

This 12ga. has the extra extra thick wall barrel profile option. LOL.

It seems to be a little sloppy tool. Maybe I'll send it to Beaver, he likes them sloppy.
Damn thats a score....only gun I ever found while cleaning out one of the rentals after an evicted tenant was an early Savage 24 22/410 left sitting in a basement corner.

OMG. I just checked. It does appear to be a 10ga. It's not marked, but a 12ga shell is too small. LOL. The 10Ga. shells are all packed up still. I'll get 12344Mag over here to test fire it. Youtube is calling.
Cool Finds, Merry Christmas!

I am impressed those "tools" you found seem rust free for the climate.

on the cabinet drawer, PNPS is "PILGRIM NUCLEAR POWER STATION" and the MT&E indicates this was in the Radiation Calibration lab, most likely: "Dosimetry, and calibration of measurement and test equipment (M&TE).

Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station was the only nuclear power plant operating in Massachusetts. The facility is located in the Manomet section of Plymouth on Cape Cod Bay, south of the tip of Rocky Point and north of Priscilla Beach.

Those look like very nice benches, jealous.

I used to work with our internal Dosimetry folks on a few projects back in the 80's. They are still collecting dosimeters from the Bikini Atoll.

Well, that might explain why the woodwork looks pretty good. Fired once and put up. No scratches and dings and water damage from duck hunting!

That's exactly right. I loaded them out of Pilgrim a week and a half ago. I also bought the lab's store room contents. I wanted the shelving. It's sweet shelving. The room was full of all kinds of instrumentation. I have no idea what I bought, but it'll all end up on Ebay. LOL.

The benches should be sweet. I'm hoping to rival the Saudi guy who owns that other site... Grins
That 10 gauge may need a new recoil pad
Need some slugs for the 10 seeing as how it’s got a rear sight and all.
Will teach ya a trick. The hole in the stock to attach the stock to the receiver is the same diameter as a roll of nickels. I used to stick 2 or 3 rolls in mine when I shot slugs out of it and it tamed it down substantially.
Helluva find , Kingston!
Miss Lynn has an A3-O3 too

Nice Finds, can't wait to see the rest. What part of Michigan did you move too? Hope it's not down State.
Cool thread, and nice finds Kingston! smile

Cool score for sure.
Kinda leary opening any links though,,,,,,,, eek
Disinfect those relics LOL
Cool finds.
Great stuff - at least nobody "redneck sporterized" the03-A3
Since you're moving to Michigan, I pray you find a conex box full of face masks.

The Springfield if a beauty
Great finds! Looking forward to seeing more. Congrats.

Merry christmas Kingston!!!

Leave it like that !!!!
Since the previous owner was into stashing firearms.
Was he an old guy who mighta had memory problems ???
Or dead and you bought the property from people who inherited it???

Either way....
You might wanna spend some time metal detecting that place.
Conspicuous or innocuous landmarks
Lone trees.
Rises on ground.
Areas around buildings.

To delibrately hide guns like that and you discover em.
Probably other stuff around the place to be found no one had any idea of when you bought the place.
Holy crap kingston!
That’s quite the find so far.
Sooo, are you up yet and working on the unveiling of what’s in that rolled up rag below the bayonet?
If you showed that H&R then the 1903-A3, that means the next one is better.
Pretty cool stuff

I don't have a metal detector, but sounds like a good idea!
Makes a guy wonder where the ammo and cash stash is? Just thinking out loud but somewhere in your new place is some bp , .490" lead balls, #11 caps, patches, gi m1 or m2 ball , 10 ga shells. Basement ceiling or interior wall panel I'll bet. You call it treasure I'd call it added extra value of the 1 st order. Mb

Damn! Some folks have all the luck! 😜 🤠
If he had a wife that he couldn't account for, I'd think long and hard before I started metal detecting and digging holes.
The elderly cousin that I bought the farm from here where I live had guns stashed between the mattresses on the beds. Of course they all had some amount of surface rust on them. Winchester 1906, Walther PPK, Springfield 1868 50-70, and Colt 1851 Navy. The Colt was pretty well too rusted to be restored, and the Springfield was almost as bad, but the others cleaned up just fine. The Winchester is a pest gun around the farm, and the PPK was my CC pistol for a long time.

Cuz he wanted to come see his buddy’s!!!
T/C Hawkens are neat,my buddy who is into original guns says historically they don't resemble any original type.no he don't like them but I do . On the left side back by the breach is the serial # if it has a K prefix it started life as a kit gun ( one you had to blue or brown, assemble and finish the wood.) No prefix allready to fire. A few years back a guy could buy T/C's used at any gunshow for a $100 to 200 bucks not anymore. Took me years to find a clean 54. Still don't have a T/C 32 or 58. Kingston I think on your new place you might get a bang out of using your new guns no pun intended. Mb
And don’t forget the bear!!! 😀😀

Hey!! Being as you found all that stuff , how about giving me that rifle I shot last year. 😇

I know where there’s a one owner 58 Panhead sitting with flat tires. Sitting where it’s owner, he was 89 or 90 at the time, parked it about 6-7 years ago. I’m not a motorcycle guy but thought it was pretty cool that the old guy had kept it all those years.
Hey, I'll send you some blank 4473's so you can get them on the books, right?
Nice find, them old houses can hide a lot of neat things.
One thing I started to do many years ago is to hide stuff in the houses I've owned as I did some remodeling.
Someday someone will fine some unopened Cabela's Catalogs, junk mail from Presidential Elections, Local Newspaper from the day I drywall over the new stud wall and in a few cases a new crisp $1 bill with my Business Card attached.
I live in a town that has a lot of early 1800's homes, so I know people take care of them. I figure even 50 years from now if they find some of those things they''ll get a kick out of it, can't imagine what they'll think of a Cabela's Catalog in 2120

i think that was probably a kit gun, that was assembled, stock sanded etc. I have one just like it, got as christmas present after the jerimiah johnson movie. first time i shot it with that big piece of lead, took about a 12inch piece of a pine tree down out of the tree.
awesome weapon.

An old Black man who lived in a little cabin on a small piece of property died years ago.......and local gossip had it that he buried what little money he had in the woods behind his house. The rumor took hold, because another Black man in the community confessed to me that he had spent time over there with a metal detector looking, and then was told the story was just a hoax. Anyway, to make a long story short, the place was sold to the Mennonites, and I told them about the supposed buried treasure. They took a backhoe and dug up half the woods looking for it.

The TC Hawkins were MUCH better! My .54 cal TC will put 3 round balls touching each other on the target at 100 yards with real black powder.

I have a friend that inherited a farm from an old Gentleman that he had helped over the years. He found a Stutz Bearcat, in great condition, in a garage on the property. You never know what might turn up when you aren’t looking for anything...
Is the previous owner/seller still alive?

Do you recognize the marking, it's an M with the arrow through it.

Link

Type 30 Arisaka Bayonet.
If the tc is a kit gun it should have a serial number on the barrel with a K prefix.

Nice gold you found!!!!
Good things happen to good people. Congrats on your score!

Thanks GeoW!
This would have been better if the farm was on Oak Island.

Kingston never would have found anything of value. Now he has at least three good firearms and he hasn't had to spend millions of dollars digging up the place to find nothing but sea water.

Can't wait to see what else was under cover in that work bench...
Well that's just fun. Good on you Sir!

Mr.Henry lived up the road from us when I was a kid.He used to quail hunt our pastures and hay field and carried a beautiful high grade .20ga Winchester 23.I remember he kept it in a small closet in his garage.I can only guess what happened to it after his passing.Another time my dad was helping an elderly widow clean out her husbands garage and found a collection of about 50 rifles, shotguns, and pistols. My dad asked to buy them, but was told her nephew had been promised a few.Crackhead nephew showed up the next day and hauled the whole collection to the nearest pawnshop.
Thompson Centers Muzzleloaders are everywhere in Pennsylvania, mostly flintlocks. Flintlock season starts day after Christmas. Percussions are not legal during this season but can be used in an earlier season.

I sold on just like that one because I don't like set triggers but it was a flintlock. lots of fun to hunt with flintlocks.
Spent the day assembling...

Check the headspace on that National Ordinance 03A3. I had one and the head space was way off and I had to get the chamber reamed out a few thousandths before I could shoot it. A round would go into the chamber, but the bolt wouldn't close. I think they were made up out of various parts at National Ordinance and they don't always go together perfectly. Great find though! I'd love to stumble onto a treasure like that!

My buddy donated 2 Smith 629’s on consecutive trips to the Alaskan tundra. By the time he bought his third he listened to me and ditched the uncle Mike’s crap. I told him from the get go that they were junk and that he should buy good leather. He was destined to prove me wrong. After his first ‘donation’ I LMFAO and would rub it in every chance I had. He dug his heels in and replaced the pistol and stuck it in the same POS holster. Months later he got sufficiently drunk to confess the loss of his second revolver which made me cry I was laughing so hard.
Wow, nice benches and I assume Stanley Vidmars.

I am building wood cabinets around an old steel workbench I got from work in the late 80's, many Gov't installations during the cold war ( when we ran way over budget on the weapons testing program) had "upgraded" many times and sold off, at auction Wednesdays at lunch , the old stuff. Buying those would have saved me months of design, fab, buy trips, pain pills, etc, lol

Any more shooting toys?

Merry Christmas eve

Not trying to tell you what to do but I’d invest in some LED lighting down there....it would seriously brighten things up and use less electricity. You might even have to wear sunglasses while working there. Best money I ever spent in my shop!
Looks great Brian, you'll have a loading room in no time.

The blue one is a Vidmar. The rest are WorkPlace Systems out of NH. It’s nice stuff —full extension drawer slides.

I’ll post up #4 in a few.
Even if headspace is ok in that National Ordnance 03A3 I wouldn't shoot it. Those folks slapped gov't surplus parts onto el cheapo cast receivers and foisted them onto an unsuspecting public. You couldn't give me one of them. Well you could and I would part it out and toss the receiver in the garbage.
Looking good, yep the National Ordnance is very suspect. LED lighting is the way to go. Fluorescent lights can cause problems with a digital scale if you use one.
Turned a few shades of green with envy! Very nice workshop set up!

Merry Christmas,
GeoW

Look for incoming text wit small sample pics. You can defend me when the haters start calling me a liar. Feel free to post them up if you feel like it and all the best from me, A, P and O my man. Nice score, BTW...;)
I’ll increase my already generous off to include your choice of either a chalky white 4pt elk antler the dog only chewed a little. Or an extra $1.75 per gun. Final offer. smile

Pretty cool find.
I had a great uncle who was the ultimate wheeler dealer, always had what a buddy of mine called “a 4 pronged deal” going. He got older and saw that his son couldn’t manage money and hired two of my cousins to wall about 25 guns up inside his upstairs office. Wrapped them in oily towels and army blankets and dry walled over them. Swore them to secrecy but one of the cousins told me on a hunting trip once.
After Uncle passed son sold everything including the house. Couple that bought the house lived there 8-10 years before they decided to do some renovations and tore off the sheet rock. Lady called my dad trying to track down Uncle’s son. Got ahold of him and gave them all to him. He promptly peddled them all of course.

Never know where you might find some treasures.

Anyone that calls you a liar would look like a fool. I’ve seen your posts throughout the years and you are as real as it gets. 👍

Merry Christmas to you and your wife!
Most excellent!
Kingston, that Wingmaster is gorgeous. I had a 12 ga just like it in the late 70's until I traded it straight across for a Win 670 in 30-06. And I sold my 20 ga Wingmaster last fall. I hit better with a cheap old Mossberg 500.

That one is 12 ga I assume.

Was there a handgun wrapped up in there as well? Or is this the extent of your fortune this week?

Your find is a familiar story. My grandfather lived in NW LP and used to "store" his guns in the attic when he and gram went down to AZ every winter. It was a ritual. Right after deer season, my brother or myself had to get up in the attic, which was a modern trussed rancher with about 36" of clearance, and walk them all the way across the house over the rafters. He wanted them cased and hidden under the insulation along with gram's silver. One year gramps put his foot through the ceiling trying to retrieve them - he pinned that one on my bro - gram was pissed. When he passed, my brother and I weren't able to be there when they cleaned the place out. Not sure if they got all the firearms or silver out. Don't have any idea what he stashed in the basement either, but we know for a fact he had buried storage compartments down there. Could be cash or old paint cans...or both.
Thanks L. I appreciate the offer and I hope to take you up on it one of these days. I always look forward to your posts and I love your writing style.

Nice, I've got a cousin to it.

I was lucky it came with a 26" removable choke barrel also when I got it. I haven't found much use for a full choke 28".

Didju get any on ya?
In 1980 a friend who was an immigrant from England, found a shotgun in his apartment.
He only had a green card and was going to throw it away.
I took it.
It was an old rusty Savage break action 20 gauge with broken firing pin.
I put a framing nail in the drill press and filed on it until it fit as a new firing pin.
My brother shot a grouse in the woods at my house, and we ate it.
In 1990 I sold the shotgun.

40 years later, I wish I had kept my "treasure".

Either way....
You might wanna spend some time metal detecting that place.
Conspicuous or innocuous landmarks
Lone trees.
Rises on ground.
Areas around buildings.

To delibrately hide guns like that and you discover em.
Probably other stuff around the place to be found no one had any idea of when you bought the place.

PS- Look for markers on trees, too.
I've seen and experienced owners that hide their firearms and forgot that they did it. Both of the cases were rotten old farmers that hated themselves and their families. The farmers accused their children's friends of stealing the firearm when they had actually stashed it in a 2 x 4 halve wall in a corn crib. Years later when the firearm was found no apologies were given.
Merry Christmas Brian. Now stop teasing us and show the rest. Sheesh!

Put the pic up for gawds sakes....

Lol!!!!

T or + or × or similar out of nature marks
Hatchet or axe marked deep into the bark and healed.
Or piles of rocks that look out of place
Pretty cool stuff.
That Japanese Bayonet brings back memories. My father brought one of those home from the war. He had the rifle to go with it put when his ship went down he could only swim with the bayonet and the rifle went with the ship. I guess my brother has that today.

Oh, along with the cow bones and antlers i mentioned, I forgot the paint cans in the well house that match some of the rooms.

And a few cords of firewood I insisted stay with the place as we were buying in November and I didn't want to be looking for firewood and paying winter prices.

But, I didn't find any guns wrapped up in that firewood pile, or stashed behind the pressure tank in the well house.

C'mon Kingie,

let's see what else was in there, down in that lower right corner.

I'm betting either an older S&W or a 1911...
Keep’em coming!
given the provenance, I'm going with an H&R 9 shot double action .22lr

added: if it is a Colt New Service in 44-40, I'll be happy for you.
Nambu or a Parabellum P-08
A Smith & Wesson registered magnum?

Do you believe a farmer that stashed a reproduction military rifle, an old bayonet, and H&R single shot 10g, and a decent Rem 870 Wingmaster would posses and hide either of those arms?

I’ve burned through a bag of Chronic. Emptied two cans of whippets and now I’m starting to run a couple long lines of glue to inhale while I wait for this incredible hog leg to get revealed.

The buzz kill of waiting on King is palatable only because of all my vices.

You're a hasty lover. LOL 😝 😂😜😂
I rescind my previous speculation. The wrinkles look like a single action grip so I will go with a Herters .401. Final answer.
Sure hope I live long enough to find out.

Edit; single six, so much for final answers
The profile of that plastic wrapped bundle does not look right for a broom handle Mauser. But after seeing the eclectic nature of that collection, I have to wonder if it might run on bottle neck cartridges.

Dude,

glue is properly inhaled from a paper bag.

Kept after tossing the cheap car model you never intended to put together anyway.

Running lines just allows all the good stuff to evaporate.

I read a lot???
To think when all this started I'd intended to post a couple group photos.
I kinda like it this way.

Like opening one Christmas present at time and playing with it as a kid before opening the next.

Makes the day go by.

What'n the hell is Geraldo doing?
I've been poking around looking for a short barrel for the 870 Wingmaster Mag. Something blued, preferably vintage to match, smooth bore (cyl-imp). The internet seems pretty picked over.
Was happy to have the 26" one that came with the gun I got Kingston.

I started looking for a shorter one for defensive purposes and even back before the turn of the century not only were they hard to find, they wanted good money for them.

Good luck with it.

A decent smith can shorten the barrel, tap it for any number of different tube systems and even reapply a bead pretty cheap. Plenty of meat in 870 barrels.

I have had a bunch done and lost no sleep over the vast majority of them...
The last 26” remchoked 870 barrel I saw was priced more than you could buy a whole 870 Express for.

Don't mess with it. You'll eventually find a shorter one out there, if you're determined enough.
Youse guys. This [bleep] is dribbling out info like a wrinkled 75 year old dick at a three in the morning piss attempt, but he asks a question, and there is an absolute cacophony of folks climbing over one another to answer it. You supposed to hold out on him. Trade what you know for what he is holding. What the hell is in that bag, ya know? Personally I think a single action revolver, likely Colt, but, we don’t know, now do we?😂

Going about that ass backwards, the day of buying a used 870 barrel cheap is done and gone. Go find used beat up 870 express with a 26" barrel that is old enough that it has the circular spring steel magazine spring retainer.now go find a 10 rd mag extension and put it on. Or just put the 870 express 26" barrel on your wingmaster for a short. Sell the rest of the 870 express to some one who has an extra barrrel. It works easier this way than trying to just get an extra barrel at a reasonable price. Mb

So, you're saying I should wait until someone finds a short barrel for the Wingmaster before revealing this last one?

I'm betting it is a .38 or .38/.357 of some sort, most likely a PD dept turn in sold at the local gun store.

That farmer was a practical dude, judging by his choice of weapons.

An cheap ought six for deer hunting and defensive work if needed.

A Wingmaster for most shotgunning chores

A 10g to handle any BIG shotgunning chore.

A BP rifle for muzzleloader season.

A big ol' pig sticker

His pistol is likely practical and relatively common.

Thanks LD the thing is a 26" express barrel has dull finish with a 10 rd mag extension it ends about a 1/4" past the muzzle, higher cap is more important than a shorter barrel and you don't ruin it for resale. All 870 expresses come equipped with a modified rem choke easy enough to go buy a skeet tube for buck ,slugs or ball yet maintain it's ability to perform normal abilities. Kingston's 870 is the mag model it would be stupid to cut down that barrel. Fact is if he don't wanna go the Express route an after market barrel is another possibility. Lot a things a guy can do before getting stupid and sawing off the barrel of a collector gun. Collector gun? yup at a gun show 3 weeks back saw one just like Kingston's only a 30" modified with VR sell for 595. New one if you can find one with a rem choke barrel is 750 -800. Lot a cop cars have riot guns in them you would be amazed at how many of them are mossberg 500's or a version of the 500 availible used for 150- 300. Mb

while that pre-Model 10 might not be relatively common, it is "practical" in many ways. But Kingie says it's not either of the two qualifications.

I've got to believe it's some sort of oddball hard to find ammo for chambering, made in relatively few numbers.

Something in a .32 S&W or .38 S&W short?

I'm liking this idea. Where can I get a vintage blued 10rd mag extension? I'll still need another bbl to open up to cyl bore or slightly less.

Finding ammo for this is going to be much harder than finding an 870 barrel.

No way he was let on the facebook page. That was started to get away from the constant juvenile sheit slingers.
Jeebus Kingston. I never would've thought that Remmy barrels would become so rare.

Got this one from Midway a 20 incher Rem choked rifle sighted and gloss blued. I had my gunsmith friend bead blast and reblue so to match the express action. Much better for turkey or predators.

Not Midway, but another site last night had "Sold Out" on every 870 barrel they normally stock. Barrels specifically for Wingmaster models were listed as "Discontiued".

I'm guessing there was a run on shorter barrels when the riots started and the rifle sighted ones for deer season too.
Am I the only one that doesn't GAF what it is anymore? lol Its a revolver. Whatever.

I agree, this whole thread seems like a ploy for attention. There is no other rational reason to drag it out.

Geno just started a thread about pallets.
In other news. I finally took wifey out to bust some clays with her Benelli Ethos 28g I got her for Christmas last year.

Yes, it took a year to get her out...Girls can be difficult.

The question is how did she do on hand thrown clays?

A) She couldn’t get the gauge out of the case

B) She couldn’t load the gauge correctly

C) She told me to stfu and just throw the bird

D) She smoked 16 out of 20 clays

E) Both C and D

She’s laughing historically at her inability to do a simple maneuver while I’m standing there in amazement at how I married such a uncoordinated hottie.

I see you deliberately avoided showing the top of the sideplate it’s definitely a 4 or 5 screw. Parkerized means likely a war contract gun.

It's not about attention getting.

Except maybe getting hits for Rick.

And it's informative.

I've already learned that with the proper types of pallets, and some toenailing, they can build structures in PA.

Probably would be easy to slide a couple of firearms between the pallet slats to confuse future generations too.
I'm with you Geno. Did anyone guess which drawer is made from a pallet yet?

I agree, this whole thread seems like a ploy for attention. There is no other rational reason to drag it out.

You found some old guns, cool. Could have covered it all in one post. This is like something you'd see on Reddit.

Geno just started a thread about pallets.

I missed that thread. Hope he’s discussing the differences between oak, fir, and pine.

😎🦫

We have not quite delved into minutiae yet.

But different woods and even polymer ones have been mentioned.

I'd like to see some of the cherry ones the guys back east mention. Have seen oak and oddball foreign unidentifiable ones before. Someone (in AK?) mentioned finding some exotic ones.

Well, scheidt.

Not common, not practical, ammo not easy to find.

Didn't the Brits get some revolvers chambered in some underpowered .38 chambering?

I'm running out of guesses here.
The model number is three digits.

I'm pretty sure this is the ultimate Smith and Wesson big bore.

Apparently the old owner saw the future and readied himself with specific weapons for the task.

Ammo should be around there somewhere....Maybe inside the paint cans?

B, get your paint can opener up and running.

Lol!!!

Well played.

1-1/2 Creedmoor
That is too cool.

Certainly not an "underpowered Brit round"!

Grip panels have to be worth a dollar or three if you can't find ammo for it.

Well worth the wait to find out.

ps, paint cans likely have old dried up oil base in them. Gummy at a minimum if not completely dry.
This thing is cool. It's got a superb trigger. I've got to find some flares for it.

I've got an 870 Wingmaster Magnum with a 28", 26" and 20" barrels all RemChoke. The 20" has the rifle sights. The 26" has a VR and a cantilevered scope mount that I use for turkey. None are for sale tho I don't use the 20" barrel much, It's there if I need to shoot foster rifled slugs thru it or buck shot. The 28" has a VR and is for waterfowl or for skeet when the pump gun mood strikes me.
I've never even heard of that S&W. Cool find!

First time using the internet?

They have these things called search engines. You type in what you want to learn about or find and it will give you a list of things it thinks apply to your search keywords. You then scroll through those and see if one sounds like what you are after. So you could try searching for "Reddit" or "37mm fireworks" and tweak the works as you find info to refine your search.

You're welcome.
I have dies for it if you need them.

Not at all
Kingston around there somewhere is a pile flares and ammo. Think about it, you wouldn't hide the one with out hiding the other. Leaving the ammo out to be easily found would make someone keep looking for the arms . MB

That's OK Beav.

Kingston likely has a link for the South Dakota dude with a Colorado handle.

Common courtesy would go a long way around here sometimes. In the new world of the Internet, providing a link is kinda like telling a person what book you found the information in, instead of telling a person there's this thing called the library. It has a card catalog and a librarian to help.
Kingston,

certainly not common.

But it could turn out to be practical if you can find or make some shells for it.

You could start big bonfires from a safe distance I bet.

Maybe make up some giant doe pee paintballs to shoot out to the middle of the pasture so the bucks give you an easy shot.

Fill them shells with feeder corn for the same purpose?

Launching those little airline bottles of booze over to the guy in the next tree stand?

Lots of uses if you can find stuff to fire in it.

Awww you're just as ignorant of forums as the op is of search engines. See there are alerts you can receive when people respond to what you posted. So the reality is once again far from your perception.
I'm sure up until now no one really pays your much mind so you've had no use for such alerts, and frankly I usually ignore them. I do have a soft spot for ego strokers and attention seekers though. I see you have a post count of almost 10k but I don't recall seeing your handle before so probably nothing contributing or substantial. I don't care to look up anything you've previously posted either to verify because it's pretty pathetic to do so. Your infantile attempt at an insult shows how much you lack in substance in thought so it's no stretch at how your character is or ever has been. No doubt you feel you're important and likely the other folks on your drum circle dwell on whatever you say but the reality is far from what you've been led to believe. It's not entirely your fault, but feel free to not chime in the next time the adults are talking ok? Until your out of the blue post I had never heard of you let alone addressed you in any manner whatsoever. The ball is in your court moving forward, you can either chose to continue to come at me or we can let it go before it gets uncivil and your feelings get hurt.
Schit gettin heavy. lol
Bob, I was actually hoping for an invite to hunt pheasants in SD with you...But, since you can’t structure a post properly using paragraphs,,, I assume because you were too upset being virtually bitch-slapped for acting like a dick-hole on this friendly thread...

You probably aren’t in the invitation offering mode,,,,nor am I in the accepting mood this second.

Robert, you can choose to apologize now or we can play stupid games forever. I could care less either way. See Bob, threats don’t work with me. If you knew me personally, you’d know that.

And, who exactly are you again? I’m too new to understand how to find the button to push here that says you’re something other than a mouthful of dumb.

As far as knowing who's who, I've got no idea who Colorado1135 is, but have hunted with dozens of Campfire folks. This includes Beaver10, who I've hunted with on more than one occasion.

I'm not got to explain any of what's gone over your head. If you want to put together the pieces, I'd suggest you start by using the 24HourCampfire custom search link in my signature. If that's not getting you there, ping me and I shoot you another link.

Oh, you guys. Really? Bless your hearts.
If you're thinking I am bothered by what a couple nobodies post online you are sorely mistaken yet again. I'm calling it like I see it and skipping the niceties since none were offered to me. Kingston, you are an attention whore plain and simple. You kept bumping your thread over and over and dragging it out for the attention. Someone called you on it and you made a pompous remark indicating you are someone big and that comment won't sit well with your followers. One of them tried defending you and was easily distracted by some phantom Bob guy he made up apparently. Also about paragraph structure but doesn't use it himself. But you're right, coming from the average person that would have been an epic "bitchslap". Upon reading that I felt bad about what I said to someone who is obviously trying but has more to overcome mentally than the average person. Beaver please forgive me, I didn't know about that or the dementia. I'm super impressed that you guys have hunted with some guys here and even with each other once, no doubt that gives weight to your argument and makes you more in the right. How many PM's and phone calls did you exchange before responding to me? Lol. Personally I don't need my friends to jump in and stick up for me. Nor do I need to brag about hunting once with them, cause damn that's super impressive. Now I won't fault you for that, there's lots of folks who need that and that's ok. I will say you guys are really tough what with your zingers of "his handle had a different state in it than he lives" and other such hurtful things. Beaver, I've already apologized for witty retorts to one who is unarmed so I won't include you anymore. I do want to say good job on knowing the pheasant is the state bird here in the last free state in the nation with the hot Governor. Normally I'd say if any of you have issue with me, let's take it to PM's but I'm usually a pretty good judge of character and I don't care to get to know any of you so we can let this be bygones.
Beaver, I wrote this really slowly just for you buddy 😉 you're awesome! Don't give up.
Just one day after Christmas, and all of the joy is gone ....... laugh
Guys, I'm not bothered by what you think. Here is my dissertation on why I'm definitely not bothered. At all. Really.
I once had a neighbor named Bob. I hadn’t thought about him in many years...You reminded me of him. He liked to run his yap-trap about knowing everything about anything.

The guy was ignorant of his own self indulgence, thinking himself important was his weakness. He drank a lot, too much really.

He would come over drunk and want to talk about why he had the answers to everything. His bs got old, just like yours.

He made one too many trips across my yard...Bob moved.

Congrats on living in a awesome State for pheasants. Your Governor, while pretty, is a smidge too skinny for my liking.

Happy New Year, Bob

😎

I see we have more Kingston fans jumping on the bandwagon. Funny how it's not what I'm saying it's how I'm saying it apparently that has gotten your dander up. Also, usually when folks lead off with a personal attack because they don't like the message, it's because the truth hurts.
I stated a fact, backing up another member's post. Beaver bless his heart wanted to stick up for his big buddy. I saw his fragile state and gave him a pass, even congratulated him on trying so hard. I'm sure the rest of you were called in to back him up because there is safety in numbers. If you decided to jump in on your own well then you must be cut from the same cloth. I've gotten a few messages thanking me for calling him out for being a freak/manic depressant and attention whore. I don't need anyone to stick up for me, we're all sitting back and laughing at the lot of you. Happy New years!

Post up your private messages thanking you. You are correct, I don't believe you.

I don't give a fuqk one way or the either, but I don't believe for one minute he got pm's thanking him. He's a fuqkin' liar.

You are the one wading into a fun thread and being a jackwagon. If you don’t like this thread just move along to one that needs your negative bullschit.

We used to reload 37 mm less lethal rounds for training. CTS and Sage are the companies that sell the batons and reloads. I’m not sure if they sell to civilians but it’s worth a try. They offer less lethal and gas products for both smooth bore and rifled guns. That’s a cool piece. Have fun with it.

I for one am having fun and thank you heartily.
Course I stopped reading the long flaming rants and confined my reading to the concise zingers.

Note ftfindustries.com has 37mm load your own cases 10 for $24.99.
Thanks Ryan,

I just reread the thread and I think its even better the second time.

I'll check them out!
Kingston; thanks for the fun! I agree with previous posters don’t throw out any containers without opening them first. Metal detector sounds like a good idea.

Please post videos of the 37mm in action once you get her ammunition.
1967 Detroit Race Riots maybe?

I can only imagine how much fun you must be in person.

You know if you gave him one of those guns he wouldn't be jealous anymore.

Pull and pray brother.
I volunteer to run video
I wouldn’t call Beaver10 a lap dog. He’s as loyal a friend as one could have and I’m proud to call him my friend.

Although unnecessary, I can confirm, as so many have stated, this thread was meant in good fun.

It was serendipitous and maybe ironic that I found this little cache of treasure two days before Christmas while cursing my way through 40 year old ringshank nails and particleboard.

That some like to open their presents a week before Christmas and that others will drag it out into the afternoon of Christmas day is all good fun.

I’ll admit to dragging it out, while knowing it would drive some people nuts.
It was well done IMHO...

Mac84 you available ?

You’re a cop, there must be some law against what he’s doing to us ? 🤔

I’d go over there Randy but I’d likely sit and have a few drinks and we’d forget about updating this thread. Then y’all would be really pissed.

😂😂. Guess I’m gonna have to get ahold of Kid Rock then 🤷🏻‍♂️

I will have to admit it was worth the wait.

I wasn’t aware such a device existed.

That’d be a hoot to send one of those rounds under a cop car !

Or is that when the azz beatin commences Mac ? 🤔
Kingston,

Those are all great fortunes.

Congrats on all of them.
Yep Kingston I really enjoyed this !

So cool to find firearms particularly one as eclectic as that smith.

I even enjoyed the zingers in reply to the hurt feelers posts

Thanks, I wondered if you would have guessed the last one.
FYI - I think a "pull & pray" is about $25 on South Division.

Paul - I was doing a deer sit over in your neck of the woods tonight. What's up with all the gunfire? Sounded like Bastogne out there in Robinsontucky.

Kingston - curious if that flare gun is a war relic or perhaps used by the USCG over here on the west shore. If you want to test it out and have some fun, maybe pop a couple rounds off the beach after the icebergs form? I bet it would make the news and we'd only have to run faster than Paul.

It’s doesn’t look like it’s been through a war or on a boat. It’s in very good shape. I’m betting it came from GR. The previous owner was a retired GR FF.

I’m hoping that Smith has some info re: the serial #.

you know the type.

"Sure thing I'll test it for you. Here...........Hold my beer"

I shot the little sister. A 3.5 12 ga. on a 4570 frame. Once. Bruised my shoulder jacjet pad and all, put a big knot on my trigger finger where the guard hit it
