I'm cleaning out this area to sent up a reloading bench. A few weeks ago I bought some nice benches from the calibration lab at a nuclear power plant that's being decommissioned.

In 1980 a friend who was an immigrant from England, found a shotgun in his apartment.
He only had a green card and was going to throw it away.
I took it.
It was an old rusty Savage break action 20 gauge with broken firing pin.
I put a framing nail in the drill press and filed on it until it fit as a new firing pin.
My brother shot a grouse in the woods at my house, and we ate it.
In 1990 I sold the shotgun.

Since the previous owner was into stashing firearms.
Was he an old guy who mighta had memory problems ???
Or dead and you bought the property from people who inherited it???
Either way....
You might wanna spend some time metal detecting that place.
Conspicuous or innocuous landmarks
Lone trees.
Rises on ground.
Areas around buildings.
To delibrately hide guns like that and you discover em.
Probably other stuff around the place to be found no one had any idea of when you bought the place. PS- Look for markers on trees, too.

I've seen and experienced owners that hide their firearms and forgot that they did it. Both of the cases were rotten old farmers that hated themselves and their families. The farmers accused their children's friends of stealing the firearm when they had actually stashed it in a 2 x 4 halve wall in a corn crib. Years later when the firearm was found no apologies were given.

That Japanese Bayonet brings back memories. My father brought one of those home from the war. He had the rifle to go with it put when his ship went down he could only swim with the bayonet and the rifle went with the ship. I guess my brother has that today.
