We have a big fat pork filled spending bill that had to be passed because so many "poor suffering Americans" needed $600.00 or $2000.00. The members here represent a pretty good cross section of working Americans. I was wondering how many of us have actually sustained a significant loss of income due to Covid. I have to think that the urgency of this stimulus as been greatly exaggerated in order to get the spending bill passed.

I am a part owner of a business that was shut down for 3 months by our commie governor. We got a PPP loan and kept our 23 employees employed and insured. It hasn't been the best year, but it hasn't been the worst either. I certainly can't say we are struggling or that myself or anyone that works for me needs a stimulus check to get by. Anyone else?

It is criminal to put this debt onto future generations. The same way it has been criminal for our parents and grand parents to leave us with the debt they left.

Congress is probably realizing that the average American is rather ticked off and 600 is just enough to partake in the 2A should they decide to....

Was the PPP program actually a loan or a forgivable grant? Does anyone actually have to pay this back to the government or taxpayers.

No worries. In the bill was a $57K annual raise for the members of congress....they'll be ok with that, plus their $600...

The $600 is token window dressing. If you are eligible take it and don't look back.

The looting of the treasury will accelerate.

That said, there are good hard working Americans who are genuinely hurt by the lockdowns.

The 600.00 stimulus checks account for 160 billion out of the 2.4 trillion in the combined omnibus/stimulus bill. Seems a bit senseless to worry about the crumbs when it's the huge cake on your face that's suffocating you.

Here in Oklahoma, the energy sector is basically at a standstill. 8 to 12 rigs operating now. So yes many people are getting hammered and most of them are white and hard working republicans. Energy production provides the capital for a huge chunk of the economy here.

My wife and I have been blessed enough to not miss a day of work.

My 22 year old son is an apprentice pipe fitter. He watched as 10s of his coworkers stopped going to work in the early Summer IOT get the unemployment and fed hand out. He called to ask what he should do. I told him he’s got to make that choice and asked him what kind of man he wants to be.

As of this week, hasn’t missed a day, either.

I do see the people that are taking advantage, but there are people really hurting, too. Its not their fault and something should be done for them, but it should be more focused.

Forgivable grant if you met certain parameters.

Well, they generously gave the rest of the federal workforce a 1% raise, so they are forgiven. 🥴

It has had almost no impact on us.
Missed a little work (3 weeks maybe)
Got $600 added to thge unemployment for some. Probably ahead?
Wife manages a C-store, it's made her job suck. But not hurt her income.

17 year old daughter has been impacted the most work wise.

Part time waitress, she missed around 6 weeks of work early on.
But, got the $600/wk. So in 6 weeks she got paid 2/3 of last year's earnings.

But once back to work, business and tips were just a fraction of before.

Then as Christmas approached, the tips started getting real nice.
(One couple tipped $60 on a $20 meal. No, that's not a mistake)

But then, Lord Wolf closed things again.

In the meantime, the kid volunteered to help at the C-store her mom runs.
They had people quarantined , and were short staffed.

So now, she works a couple 4-5 hour shifts a week.
At $9.50/hr, it's not close to her waitress job. Before covid.

She might still qualify for unemployment, but doesn't want it.

Restaurant owners here are the ones hurting.
Two young brothers took over a small, out of business, restaurant before this hit.
Put a pile of money into it, and opened two weeks before the first shutdown.
They announced being permently closed before the shutdown ended.

Damn shame. Those guys took a chance.
A big swing at the American Dream.
Umpire Wolf called them out,
before the ball even left the bat.

Other than having to put a mask on in town to get groceries nothing has changed. $600 will go to the bank, will come in handy when the hammer and sickle gang wait it back.
