Why so big of bullet?
Deer ar'nt armour plated you know.(of course you do just being cheeky)
But if you have your heart set on it, yes they will work just like any other 180gr. bullet out there.
Put the pill where it counts.

At '06 velocities, the 180gr Interlock will work just fine too. The Interbond will be just as good but slightly more expensive. I've used the 140gr IB and IL on deer from my 7mm-08. Always a dead deer and always pass throughs. The IB is slightly more accurate in my rifle and that is why I switched.

the reason for the 180's instead of 150's or 165's is i'd like 1 load for deer and bear, and theres some big bear that show up from time to time. i have shot a few deer with the interlock 180's with no complaints, although, most dident come out and i do like an exit.

Wow they did'nt come out!
When I had my 30'06 all I ran were 165gr. Sierra SPBT's and never recovered a single bullet, somewhere around 30 Alberta deer, and 2 moose, and 4 bears fell to that load, never recovered a single bullet.
Man what am I doing diffrent.

most dident, maybe 1 out of 4 i got a pass through. i fact i just shot a smallist pig in fl. with the 180 interlock, slight quartering away shot, never came out, lodged in offside front shoulder, went maybe 18-20 inches only bone hit was 1 rib

If you really want exits then use a tougher bullet. A 150gr TSX would recoil less, shoot flatter and dig deeper than a 180gr Hornady Interlock bullet. It just all in what you want out of a bullet..

actually, for a "one load" '06 ... I'd choose either the 165/168g TSX ... just a tad more weight to help if/when the big bad bears come out to play ... not to mention that it's hard to find an '06 that doesn't like that bullet weight ...

the 180 seems unnecessarily big, even with black bears in the mix, but i can certainly understand your concerns.

have you considered partitions? they are designed to expand well and penetrate well.

it looks like you've thought many of the angles through and that you're confident in what you've got. with that in mind, i'd say to go with what you have and use it with no worries!
