I buy once fired brass all the time.

Never an issue except I still get some 45 ACP brass with small pockets.

What are looking for?

I've not had a problem with it. I've also picked it up off the ground at the range as well. How's that for cheap? laugh

I wonder if it comes from those ranges that sell guns and ammunition.

Never did that, but I pick up range brass if I happen to see some that fits my cannons. Does it work? Yes. How many times has it been fired? Probably once. I separate head stamps if appropriate, but it isn’t all that important to me. The M1 doesn’t GAS nor does one of my .30-30’s. The .38 cares not. My 1/4 bores on the other hand , are a bunch of stuck up bitches.

I've only been burned once and that member is no longer here. I have bought range pickup brass and that is an unknown. I have bought from crod1972 and it's always good to go. I do anneal his brass since it has been fired in test barrels.

I don’t separate my 223 brass, my Rock Rivers seem to shoot anything as long as it has been trimmed. I separate my cannon brass, but that doesn’t make any difference for the shooting I do.

I buy once fired all the time. Sometimes you can find a deal on prepped once fired .223, saves lots of time.

The only real issue is often it’s mixed head stamps.

Bought some 38 super on eBay once. Once fired so often the headstamps were almost illegible and the case walls were too thin to hold a taper crimp. I still buy used brass but only if I can see it.

Midsouth had virgin hornady primed brass
30-06. 100 for $34.60 yesterday IIRC
And some other calibers also.
Dont know if it was a good deal.
Thought if I could find some powder and some 168 TTSX rounds
All for under 100 total to include the primed brass.
I could get someone to load up some in different weight charges and seating depths.
And maybe have a good thing going.

If I can find 5 boxes of factory barnes vortex ot6 in 168 ttsx I would be happy also.

Most of my brass is range pick up, or some one gives me some.I have been bit a few times buying "Once Fired"at gun shows. My 38 special brass is mixed as my .357 brass that load 38 loads in .I keep separate .357brass for the full 2400 loads. My 6.5S Swede brass I bought new .My .243, two kind folks on this forum sent me a bag of 50 each new ,free.

All my .223 range pickup brass has had primers crimped in them so I know it is once fired. I have accumulated about a thousand rounds in 3 months.

I separate by head stamp and weigh 5-6 of each. Most weigh 92-93 grains when prepped for loading and they get put back together except LC and Federal Brass that I keep separated because I have so much of each. However I found brass with Head stamps of USA-A weigh about 97 grains, and CBC, GFL average about 101 grains, so those do not get mixed in with others.

If you know em and have dealt with in the past and trust em, probably okay, you can tell by popping the first primer, most once fired's have only three clean little burn marks in the bottom of the primer pocket, if it's full of crud, chitcan em, especially any hot round, 40 S&W, 357 Sig, 308 Winchester etc.

I got burned on "once fired" brass one time. Not from anyone on the fire. I no longer mess with it unless I am sure of where it came from.
