Tired of crappy scopes and poor low light performance. What is a good scope for a 257 weatherby magnum accuguard? Want top end power of 15-16. This will be primarily used from box stands for white tails and may venture out west for pronghorn or Aoudad. TN shots are out to 500 yards with an avg of 250 Yds. Cannot spend over $500

My default scope has become the Leupold 5HD line, seems to be good value for the money. I have two of these, LEUPOLD VX-5HD 3-15x44mm CDS-ZL2 (30mm) Duplex Reticle, and Leupold will do a custom dial for your cartridge/ballistics. Just got mine back, one for a 6mm CM and one for 7mmRem Mag. Haven't tested them yet but we'll see. This is what I'd put on a 257 WM (I've owned two). Sorry, missed the $500 budget mark.

I bought a Vortex Viper 6.5-20X 50mm for a different rifle, but I have decided to put it on my new 6.5-300 Wby Accuguard that should be arriving at my FFL tomorrow. It’s a penny under $500. https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/vortex-viper-rifle-scopeThe reviews are mostly all good, and the things on the horizon look crystal-clear to my eyes when I take it out of the box. There are better scopes, but I'm not certain there are many for $500 or less.

Not to hijack but how does the meopta meopro stand up in low light? Been looking for a scope possibly in that range for a rifle, but am worried that swarovski had ruined me for anything less.

I don’t think anything touches the SWFA 3-9’s when bought on sale for $450.

Meopta Meo pro 4.5x14
I would jump on the Camera land deal. I did but with the BCD reticle it works great so far on a 257 Weatherby. I have only shot two deer and a coyote with it but no complaints.
The Meopta Meopro holds up well in low light. Think Zeiss conquest originals. The 6x42 is a stand out, the 42mm objective, German #4, and fewer lens elements all come together to produce really good low light performance at any price point. Sure the Swarovsky, Schmidt and Bender, Kahles, Ziess and Lieca will beat them but I bet in many instances it would be just a few to maybe 15-20 minutes more twilight use. This is typically after hunting hours.
The Meopro is clear enough to moon light hogs with if it is not too overcast.

You have a fairly expensive rifle shooting expensive ammo. I would up your your limit a bit and buy a Zeiss V4 3X12X56 with a lit reticle from Doug. I did and I’m I thrilled. The optic was $200 more than the Tikka T3X .270 that it rides on. Call CLNY and talk to Doug, you’ll be thankful later.
