smashed the front too hard. easy to do. i've only dumped twice in my life and that was what i did both times. he must have a hell of a big front brake rotor.
Wow.... That deer was awfully small. Guy I worked with hit one coming home from work on a motorcycle late one night. Said he wasn't going that fast; deer came out in front of him as he was swerving and the deer was turning to run the other way. He just glanced off the hip and went through a small ditch and into a field. He was lucky. That guy in the video was extremely lucky. I wasn't expecting to see him be & about right away.
Yep, grabbed too much of the front brake, locked it up, maybe loose gravel on road surface.
Had a deer in front of me at night when I came over a rise one time, everything went into slow motion. I heard the front tire howling on the verge of lockup, deer seemingly ambled out of the way.
I let off the brakes and the bike snapped straight from an angle, unknowingly I had unloaded the back wheel. I ended up sitting on the gas tank after it snapped straight but didn’t go down.
After that I only used the front brake, except when conditions were slick, when I preferentially used the back brake. ABS wasn’t widely known back then.

ABS is an amazing thing. It's saved my ass a couple of times. Unless it was a classic bike, I'll never buy another one without it.
Aim for the coyote/deer, don’t lock the brakes....it won’t be there when you get there! memtb
