I want to say thank you to whomever is the amazing donor of this gift. A FB group member of Hunting Oregon sent me a message to respond to this post for my son. I so appreciate them for sending me your way. This happened to us and some special donor responded in kind with a brand new Savage 30.06 with Bushnell Scope. My son is over the moon. He is so excited for the fall season!! Dear Hunting Oregon, So this happened to me and, yes, in a HUGE extension, happened to my son. This fall my son, age 14, signed up for Hunter’s Safety Field Day here in Oregon after completing the online portion. Due to the wildfires here the field days were canceled (twice) causing him to miss the fall hunting season. He was finally able to attend a field day after the smoke cleared and the fires were no longer raging in our area-Mid Willamette Valley. He returned home with a 95 % and the biggest smile on his face. He’s so ready!!! And just yesterday his official card came in the mail!! To see his face made my cup runneth over!!! As with many, our financial status has not allowed for much over budget expenses to treat him items for his first hunt next fall. We have Facebook groups in our area that are open to join for people to exchange items they no longer use, need, or have over abundance -free of charge. I myself have given freely items we have to offer. I decided to try In Search Of request for items he would be able to use on his fall hunt. I searched the internet for items and found a list put out by Dick’s Sporting Goods and added it to the post. Unfortunately it was pulled within the hour. I didn’t understand why. I reached out to the admin’s- no response. I tried again by posting another request on the group page. It stayed up for a day and now I am blocked from the group. I am saddened that the group admins felt the need to not reach out to me, but more feel that the climate of this group does not support hunting. With thousands in the group I would think more than a few either enjoy hunting for not just as a sport, but also for exercise, family time, nature and food on the table. So... why am I reaching out to you? Your FB page came up on my feed ... of which made me so excited. Like fate 😊 I feel you feel as I do that youth have a wonderful right to hunt and experience nature. I was wondering if you might be able to help by sending my son items that you might have available to help him be successful next fall. I know y’all are probably overstretched as well... but thought after my experience you might have items on hand to offer. Thank you, in advance, for any help you can provide. Grateful, Moakey2
