when reviewing articles or stuff about Vit D and covid , keep in mind that A,K,D,E are all fat soluble. This means that depending on the persons BMI (how fat they are) will determine the effect of D on Covid.

most of the D in the fat, will not be available. one of the reasons for the large percentage of this group in the die group.

Also its D3 -- so if your dosing with regular D, increase the amount.

Most of us are deficient in D so supplementation is necessary. Mine was scary low at 9 ng/ml. Doc asked how much was in my multivitamin, 1000iu, said that was enough and we'd monitor. Next test, 9 ng/ml. Doc said take an extra 1000iu. I said phugg it and started taking 5000iu in addition to the 1000 in the multi. Next test, 32 ng/ml. I waited 6 months over the summer to see if the 5000 would build up in my system. Next test, 34 ng/ml. Since then I take 10,000iu/day in addition to the 100 in the multi and last test I was at 54 ng/ml.

I have Lyme and thyroid disease. I noticed a slight decrease in joint pain, not quite as tired, and slightly less "brain fog". I live in PA and switched to 2nd shift awhile back so dont get much sun. I believe I could take an extra 5000 totaling 15,000iu/day and feel even better. But some studies show negative effects much above 60 ng/ml so im being cautious. Bunch of online "docs" believe you can go near 100 ng/ml without side effects but im not so sure.

Far as covid, really wouldnt know what level would help that.

D is not measured directly in your body, its one of the metabolites, which is then looked up on a scale, which is statistical sample of about 100 others , very few of which are identical to your bodies metabolism

10000 units is about right.


as far as covid goes--- there are probably 100 different metabolites of D, some like the calciferol derivates, and some with cytochrome interactions have been looked at in depth while the others have not.

if the metabolite that is responsible for the effect against covid is isolated, the physical properties will be analyzed and modifications will be made (like quinine and Plaquenel and 1000l of other drugs) to make it more efficient and profitable.

Do you recommend everyone take a mult-vitamin?

multi- vit is better than no vit.

but is not anywhere near what you need. and mostly a feel good placebo.

and when they do take D its not enough and the wrong one. should be D3

If you want a prophylaxis list

all the above and add. in order of importance

aspirin
NAC -- N Acetyl Cystene , precursor to glutathionene ( not checked for spelling)
Resveratol - polyphenol ---- antioxidant. many subgroups in polyphenols elderberry etc.
Tumeric-Cummerin
ARB- angiotensin receptor blocker such as Losarten - this one needs an Rx
Vit C in Rose hips, (pantothenic acid)

add more if you want.

Read the other one should be doing 4000 Iu a day on the D3 for covid prevention

My physician son has the wife and I both on 5,000 IU D3 per day. He also recommends having andrographis supplement on hand, and start taking it if you are infected. Both of us are on Losartan, and I do NAC morning and night. We always have elderberry on hand and take it if we start feeling ill.

Having a fidget fit waiting for the vaccine. Got places to go and grandkids to hug.

Even if you see the sun, doesn't mean your making enough D

after the age of 25 the amt. synthesized decreases and about age 50 you will need 4 times as much as at 25

but hey, your call.
