I wish it was. I was shocked too. USPS, USP, Fed Ex all the same. Like I said if it is less I'll return difference or if I find out it is currently lower that is what i will go with. Maybe it was because it was Christmas time and I was being gouged because I ate $14 of that.

Come on. Yes, with only $50 worth of insurance. Just package it like it can be thrown off a cliff without getting damaged.

Nobody is trying to be disrespectful to the OP or suggest he shouldn't spring a little extra for the insurance. He has some nice scopes for sale. I've shipped loads of scopes using USPS Flat Rate boxes WITH insurance to cover optics in his price range and none has cost anywhere near $42. Free bump for the OP and his scope. GLWS.

But the scope was bigger and would not fit in a flat rate box.
