Hello,
I was looking at Boyds forends for a Savage 99C and the only two listed are takedown and Spring clip. What is the spring clip? Is that the standard screw that holds it on?

There is a latch assembly that fits into the fore stock to connect the fore stock to the tang on the barrel of the takedown models. I believe the other models only use a screw.

It looks like just an E style forearm. The only other they show is a schnabel. No idea why they call it a "Spring Clip" since there's no spring or clip involved. Just a forearm screw. Spring Clip: Takedown:
“ The Savage 99 Pocket Reference”. All models and variations of 1895’s, 1899’s and 99’s covered. Also dates, checkering, engraving.. Find at www.savagelevers.com

I wish I could find some pictures of the Boyds installed on the 99.
