A buddy bought his girlfriend/future wife a meateater in .308 for Christmas.
I checked it out yesterday, and really liked it.
Stock ... meh...
But the rifle as a whole felt, and balanced great.
I do have a 257 wm Vanguard to compare to.

So I'm thinking of a 6.5 PRC.
For me, I think it will fill a niche, be a good rifle, looks ok, and should shoot great.
I've got a Leupold 3.5-10 with a B&C reticle for it.

Ya ?
Na ?

Hadn’t seen it, so went and looked. No PRC on the Wby site. Looks heavy, like Howas tend to be, if that’s a concern. I think it’s over-priced unless the fluting makes you happy. Make no mistake, I’m a Howa fan, and think you should look at current models from Legacy before you buy any of them. They have some SS ones, and more stock and cartridge options than before.

I noticed that Rinella had a left-handed one in his hands, but that one is a Mark V.

I don't have a Meateater model, but I just bought a Vanguard Sporter in .300 Wby and I love it

It is not enough to fight for natural land and the west; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it's still there. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends...

Every so often guests clearly didn't want a "sponsor rifle"... Callahan with a M70 FWT in Mexico, others with old 30-06s moose hunting. I like that they let then do it.

I thought it was pretty stupid for them to give the girls synthetic 30-06 rifles to learn to hunt.

I handled a MeatEater in 308 (I believe) at the Sportsmans Warehouse in Cheyanne on the way to a hunt in Utah, it felt great!

I know they're big on 6.5cm now. Assuming they'll move away from 300wm more and more for non-toothy hunts.

I did the same thing at SW here. It fit me like a glove. I should have bought it. But, they had it set up differently than I would have and the price was a lot higher than I could get it set up for. I'm hoping I can get one in .308 at some point before this summer.

.

It seemed significantly lighter than the the .257 W Vanguard tank that I had before.

Meateater?? I'm surprised they come in anything other than 6.5 Creedmoor.

I'm interested in one in a .308. I'd like one a lot actually. But, I'm not sure it's worth the asking price. It sure did fit me nice though.

I'd hope it was SS metal for that price. If not, it's basically a CM vanguard in an injection molded stock with a "Sport appearance package".

I think it's cerakoted, fluted barrel, decent junk stock. laugh I think Sportsmans is asking $900 for them. Damnit I'm a sucker for a fluted barrel.
