Should have some virus bucks coming and was thinking of picking up a CZ 457. Don't need it, just want to try one. Anyone know what the trigger can be adjusted down to, or have experience with such.

Don't really run around with any of my 22's, just using them in our ground squirrel fields in almost bench rest conditions. That being, I prefer things on the extremely light side. Have a Ruger 77/22 that I worked down, and an Anschutz 2-stager that's down in the ounce range.

Observations appreciated,

CZs are excellent rifles. I've done a trigger spring job and a little polishing on my CZ455, and got it down to just under 1lb pull wt. No need for my needs to go lighter. It was easy peasy. Lotsa u-toob vids out there.

The factory trigger can be adjusted to about 2 lbs, theres a replacement trigger spring on ebay for 10.49 that will take it to 10 oz if you like...I have used several of them and they are great, best money you can spend to improve your 457, the sping also can be adjust highe pull weight as well.

For that kind of shooting, you might want to look at the 457 Varmint MTR. It has a minimum chamber, and is pretty heavy with a wide forend, two swivel studs up front, and pillars in the stock. I got my trigger down to 2.5 lbs. Might try a spring later. I mounted a SWFA 10x42 because I want to shoot a flipper target at 200+, but also be able to dial back for shorter ranges reliably.

I’ve had a couple of 455s and a 453, but the 457 is a nicer rifle. Might not shoot any better, but they fixed just about everything people fussed about on the old ones.

The adjustment range of the factory triggers seems to vary a bit...

I was able to adjust mine down to ounces simply by following the CZ adjustment instructions. Had to increase it for safety.
Take up and overtravel were easily adjusted too. And my trigger is fairly crisp.

I've read that others have had the same adjustment range, and also that some people could only get down to 2 lbs or so. I'm not sure why that is. I do see what looks to be black nitrided trigger blades on the new rifles, mine is older and has a shiny blade. No idea if that is relevant. Also, mine is a Varmint. Again, I don't know of that matters.

Intended use is for Beldings Ground Squirrels. From a few feet out to about 125 yds. With our bank going through a recent sale and account number changes, we're having trouble running down our virus bucks. Might have to wait until tax time to collect. Already have a Ruger 77/22 and an Anschutz that are both accurate with super triggers. This is just a continuation of "want."

For the earlier CZ's (452 and 455) maybe.

For the 457 which has a fully adjustable trigger right out of the box -no.

Don't need it on a 457.......mine is about 2#, nice trigger, easy to adjust.

Yo Dave spring has my 457 breaking at 11 oz.

Mine (100% OEM) easily adjusted down to 5 or 6 oz, and I quickly brought it back up to the 20-24 oz range for safety.

My rifle is a standard walnut stocked Varmint in .22lr, but I don't imagine that either particular would matter.

FWIW, my rifle is bleeping terrriffic. I'm hoping to stumble into another one sooner than later.

Yup. I know guys get all teary-eyed over the old ones, but the 457 is the best IMO. Accuracy varies in all generations, but with the 455 & 457, swapping barrels is a snap, if it comes to that. Gonna spring for some Tenex someday and really give mine a chance.

My 457 Varmint shot somewhat better from my 455 Varmint, and while I'd managed to work over the 455's trigger down to an OK 2-
pound pull, the 457's adjusted to 2 pounds was far better. Didn't really feel a need to go lower, so didn't try.

I own several 452 and several 455’s. I have used the M-Carbon spring kits on them and love them. Super easy to install and triggers a very nice. I also own several 457’s. And those triggers and the new safety design make the 457 a sweet rifle. Those trigger are so easy to work on and u can literally make any adjustment in regards to the trigger you want. You will not be disappointed

1Minute: Year and a half ago I bought a CZ 457 Varmint in 22 Magnum.
It's trigger is so sweet and the accuracy so pleasing I haven't touched a thing on that factory Rifle!
I mounted a Leupold 6x18 variable scope on mine and it IS the "berries" (if you can remember back that far?).
I can't wait for next Ground Squirrel season and having this correctly "safetied" CZ 457 afield again!
