I bought this rifle awhile back and before I ever got around to messing with it I bought a Kampfeld 35 whelen and lost interest in this one. I’m asking 1000.00 shipped. Here is the description from the original ad.
Model 70 Classic SS (G104XXX) rebarreled to 338-06 AI. I believe it is a Shaw barrel but do not have documentation to confirm that. I'm the second owner. It sits in a Medalist stock with bedding block. The bottom metal is MRC. It comes with a set of Redding dies, and a little over 50 pieces of formed brass (RP 35 Whelen)
The rifle has been hunted. It has some rubs on the barrel here and there are a couple of small marks on the stock. The only other thing I can think of is is that the bottom metal was never bead blasted to match the finish of the rifle. I never bothered to have it done as I had planned to cerakote it. The rifle shoots very well with 210 PT's and H414. That is the only bullet I ever tried in it. I found it surprisingly mild mannered in terms of recoil with 210's at a little over 2800 fps.
Darn shame this is not a factory offering, darn shame. A worthy big game cartridge that gives a lot of the "right stuff" from a 30-06 case. Just a darn shame.
