Krylon camo'ed the stainless barrel on a rifle. Later sold the rifle to a guy in the PNW. Five years later the rifle showed up for sale at Cabela's in TX. Barrel had been black dura-coated. However, streak of Krylon camo overspray on the stock was still intact.

I used Brownells alumihyde on a SS barrel.. Spray can, easy to do and seems very durable. Available in different colors including black. Way better than grill and stove paint I tried on another barrel.

Thanks

I never saw the recommendation not to use Alumahyde II on a barrel, so ignorance is bliss.
Working great for me, but I never get it very hot.
