When is the 1st run of reds? We normally fished the 2nd run @ July 20th. But this year I'm going out with Jake Jefferson in the 1st week of June for bear. I was wondering about staying another week & flossing for reds.

I've caught them mid river (Sterling area) in early June as well. Admittedly I don't fish them as hard, but seems to be a bit more hit or miss then. Bonus for being a lot less crowded!

There are always catchable numbers of sockeye at the Russian/Kenai confluence on the June 11th opener.
