Another vote for the 130 Accubond And another A friend I load for would add a big plus one. He killed two bucks and a coon this past two weeks. Coon blown up, deer with blown out hearts. Good exits, quick kills. They work, even at Creed speed. Yep, he was shooting his new to him Mauser-18. He asked how much energy that bullet would have at 300 yds. I said, enough. We can to the math later, but enough... Accubonds expand very well even when velocity drops of a bit. So go kill a deer at 300, don't worry about energy, it'll be enough.... BTW, Field and Stream had the Mauser-18 as one of the 10 most accurate hunting rifles and it was, by far, the least expensive of the lot. And, for those other posters, don't tell Pat the 139 Scenar is just a target bullet, not suitable for game... And don't tell others on this forum the ELD-M 140's and 147's, because they're target bullets, they won't kill anything..... Too may hanging in the cooler, in the freezer. But, guess they aren't talking.... DF

As to the original question, where are you guys finding projectiles that are nominally 2.5 inches in diameter? As a math teacher this made me laugh!! As to the OP, I shot a 260 since 2003. Had some success with the 140 Nosler Accubond, but a few yrs back switched to Hammers and never looked back. One thing that may help is intended game and approximate distance to said game. I hunt where a common shot is < 75 yards, so I am concerned about bullets holding together.
......the occasional hunter wielding a hopelessly inaccurate rifle, living by the fantastical rule that this cartridge can deliver the goods, regardless of shot placement or rifle accuracy. The correct term for this is minute of ego.

But, guess they aren't talking.... DF Yep. I have killed enough deer with the 147 to be a fan. There are numerous bullets that will work well for deer-some "target" bullets included. If talking about elk, then in my mind the list shortens. I, as a rule, don't spend any more than necessary on bullets. For deer use, I do not need the coppers and other premiums. I have a lifetime supply of 129 Interlocks, which I got for cheap, as people went to the new fancy bullets. I started with the 147s, because I got a smoking deal from a guy that did not like them. When they are gone, I will go back to the Interlocks (129, or 140-have both). As i stated earlier, I also like the Gold Dots. I got them for less than many standard bullets and it worked out.

Been real happy with the following which have resulted in very dead animals: 130 VLD (hunting) 136 Scenar-L 139 Scenar
Now fixing to use the 130 AR-hybrid in my creed for whitetails.

Now fixing to use the 130 AR-hybrid in my creed for whitetails. My Creed hunting load is with the 136L. But, I'm off on other projects, haven't killed anything yet with that one. I would like to know how the 136L stacks up against the classic 139 Scenar on game. As a LR bullet, I'm thinking it may be a bit more fragile, designed to expand at lower velocities, but don't know for sure, just guessing. There may not be enough difference to tell... Any experience with that bullet would be appreciated. DF

The 140 eld is a great target bullet and very effective on game at extended ranges. A 130 gr accubond behind reloader 26 or H4350 is a very solid combination.

I've had really good performance with the 140 grain Nosler Accubond. Shoots really well and the few deer I've taken with them didn't know what hit them

130 Sierra Gamechangers have been solid and consistent performers at 260 speeds. I’ve now killed the following with 130SGC’s @ 2800fps via 260 Rem:
Bull elk @ 527yds - 2 shots behind shoulder (1 pass through and 2nd under offside hide w nice mushroom) bull made it 10ft Muley buck @ 490yds - pass through, drt Muley buck @ 248yds - pass through, made it 20yds Large boar black bear @ 75yds -broke on-side shoulder and pass through, 20yds Doe antelope @ 350ish - pass through, drt Doe antelope @ 300 - pass through, drt
Most accurate and consistent on game performance I’ve ever had out of a bullet. Acts like an AccuBond with a better BC. Good feedback. I have two boxes here but have only shot a middle size pig. Too many bullets to try.

Coin flip for me. 130 VLD or 147 ELDM.
It turns out that factory 147’s shoot so well for me I just buy a case of them and don’t even bother with loading for the 6.5. It’s kinda nice.

The Hornady 129 gr bullets have been my go-to for a long time. They have done everything I have asked my 260 Rem to do with them.
Wanting to Use some 160 gr Hornady Interlock RN's in the 260 Rem. I know - Hornady has discontinued them. I have enough, though, to forge a couple of good loads, then hunt with those loads for several years.

129 interlock. Not the slickest bullet out there. But accurate in my gun.

Not really sure what happened on that second deer. Both broadside or quartering away. Will use them again if I can find them. They are very accurate in my rifle with H4350.
