Reckon they're trying to run behind the headlights and don't know the whole rest of the car is there? Just my best guess. smile

....... Heard that theory a few years ago when a deer ran into the passenger side door of the wife's 2012 Dodge Journey. Might be valid, as it was dark and when they lose their night vision from the headlights they're almost blind. County sheriff had to finish the deer off.

At this point I am not bringing the police in on it.
They have promised to make it right, no cost to me.
My guess is either an employee or someone dropping an employee off/up.

I don't know, but they do.

Pedaling along on country two lane blacktop one late evening, in an area known for deer and elk, I slowed down out of caution. Good thing. Headlights picked up a herd of deer in the road. Clamped on the binders, and came practically to a stop, just about even with the critters. One of them, in a fright, did a quick 180 and smacked into the side of my front fender.

As you said, why do they do that?

Very sorry to hear about the troubles with your wife's car, Mark. I'd pretty ticked off about a 2020 vehicle with body work repairs, not only because of concerns about the repair holding up, but also about reduced value due to having not one, but 2 repairs on the history report. Then again, they probably won't report the second repair.

Bring your insurance company into it. Whose going to pay you for additional “loss of value?” That’s measured in cold cash. Insurance company can threaten subrigation for additional loss. “We’ll take care of it” isn’t a documented damage mechanism.

Hahahah, this gets better.
We went to pick up the Honda from the body shop yesterday afternoon.
The repair looks great.
The trunk lid didn’t. It had two rub spots where the feet of a Saris bike rack had wiggled in the wind. This was a non insurance $510 repair that we requested and was on the quote/work order.
The excuse was the body guy that started working on the car “Was no longer working there and quite suddenly.”
So the guy got fired/quit while working on the wife’s car. Great.
It would be just my luck that the work on the car is compromised.

that sucks

I recently purchased a brand spanking new 2020 gmc sierra, I haven't had a new car in 14 years. Took only two months of owning it before a coworker didn't put his parking brake on (5 speed)...and it rolled down hill into. Made me sick. Been in shop for 10 days now. Coworker has Geico insurance, its been a nightmare.

Dad and Mom were hit a half dozen times, in the side of vehicles, (Lincoln, Cadillacs, several pickups, 20' stock trailer) between Raton and their house, which was about 2 1/2 miles east of town.
I was hit in the side on I25 at Glorieta Pass. Son and I saw a deer hit the side of a Ford Expedition at Watrous. I once saw a bear just miss the side of a large stock trailer just south of Watrous.
Critters just don't understand vehicles.

Probably one of the employee's or family members. Around here lots of shops have illegals working in them. I don't know why they would be worried about being reported as an illegal anymore, you can get a drivers license, vote, get free health care, get social security, not pay taxes.

The shop called and is fixing the trunk for free.
We’ll see how the rest of this goes.

Yeah, they fired him after the work was completed and not about to do anything extra for you. You also have to be careful after a unibody car is hit/sideswiped, as the car can leak when it rains. Sure, car can be straightened somewhat but a lot of times the panels/doors don't fit tight against the seals and you get water infiltration.

Sister's car hit in parking lot from a woman who backed into her and left scene. Car was fine before accident, leaks water now and the damage looked minimal, but enough to torque body so where rear door on one side does not fit tightly against seal. My advice, run a hose all around doors/windows/panels or after next car wash, see if you have wet carpets/spots inside car.

I feel your pain, new vehicles tend to draw attention and damage.

The phone call she received was anything but that. It was to tell her that another customer sideswiped her car and they got every panel down the driver’s side with a nasty crease.
Their “We’ll make it right!” isn’t making her any less pissed off.
Ahhh, the joys of living in modern society. The perp bitch drove off like nothing happened. The shop knows who it is, but refused to give my wife that information.

Call the popo and have them ask the shop.
