troublesome82 Campfire Regular T Joined: May 2020 Posts: 2,643	When on a tight budget , I have been drinking whatever tastes best for the buck. Natty ice, Hamms, Red Dog, Boxer Ice. All 30-36 can cases for $11 -13 bucks, give or take.......

No cold chain in beer in most of Europe, which makes a huge difference. Go to Aldi and get the discount beer that has sat in a hot warehouse, hot trucks, and hot stores for a month or two, and you get what you deserve. Where I went to college, the Student Body operated it's own bar, with two 2,000 gallon beer tanks under neath..... we were about 30 minutes from the Heineken brewery, no skunkyness, ever. But, that was beer stored at about 52 degrees in a cellar environment, and 700 students DID go through some beer. Ah, good times.... Sic Semper Tyrannis

OK, I'll go along with you on the cool temperature; a lot of good German beers are "lagered" in cool caves or warehouses at that temp. The best brew I've made was a Munich style, brewed and aged in my cellar during the winter, when temps were around 55 degrees or so. So good, in fact, my brewing supply store encouraged me to enter it in a local contest; they said it was the best they had tasted. Unfortunatelly I was in the process of moving.
