I haven't read of not one cowboy taking a dump in a Louis L'Amour book either. You would think they would have to at least have to pee. That is because when you are galivanting around the countryside being enigmatic and dangerous you don't have time for any of that s hit.

I watched a show on tv that talked about that Palace of Versailles. The stench and filth in the palace was apparently legendary. No air conditioning, no bathing, and all those courtesans in those elaborate clothes and wigs, squatting in the corners of rooms, shchitting and pissing. Supposedly it was much worse than a pig pen.
