I'm in the process of rebarreling a tang safety Ruger M77 and converting it to the Mannlicher style "International" stock, and I need a few bits and pieces. The front sight base is out of stock at Gun Parts Co., and I also need the nose cap at the front of the stock. Anybody got a source for those bits and pieces? Thanks!

Most (if not all) of those parts are available from Brownells

Have you tried Jack First in Rapid City, SD?
Ruger should be able to supply the parts.
If nobody has what you need, you can always call Rody's Gun Shop in Newport, NH, at 603-863-3356 and ask for Bill or Henry. If you need a Ruger part that Bill and Henry can't get for you, it is a part that can't be got.

Rody’s is literally across the road from Ruger’s NH factory

I'd be very interested in knowing where you got the stock itself! They seem like unobtanium,

My client brought me the stock, and ordered a correct-contour barrel blank from Lilja. I have no idea where he got the stock, but it's pre-finished and has a new-looking recoil pad on it. I'll thread, chamber and blue the rifle, and mount the sights. He understands that a short, skinny barrel that isn't free floated won't be a tack driver, especially if he chooses to use iron sights instead of a scope. Bill at Rody's was "too busy" to talk to me for more than a few seconds, but he says he might have the pieces I'm looking for. I've dealt with rude people before, so I'll try to call back when he's in a better mood.

If you could find out who/where he got it(stock) and report back here, I for one, would be very appreciative for the info.

Well- - - - -some things never change. Ruger customer service still sucks like a Dyson vacuum cleaner! 20-something years ago when I wanted to rebarrel a M77 with a damaged bore to a different cartridge, I called to ask about the diameter and pitch of the barrel thread. A very rude call screener informed me that was proprietary information, and I had no business gunsmithing on any Ruger firearm. She absolutely refused to connect me to a technician. A couple of years later I mentioned the incident to a Ruger rep at the SHOT show, and he was very apologetic about it.
So far I've made three phone calls to the CS department, simply to ask if the parts I need are available or where to find them, and while the call screeners are more cordial, nobody else is handy - - - -"out of the office"- - - -"gone to lunch"- - - -etc. and my calls never get returned. I guess it's time to give up on contacting Ruger directly.

OK- - - -got an update, and it's a good one for a change! After several days' delay, I finally got a call back from Ruger. The CS representative was very helpful, and took my contact information for a possible callback after he checked on the availability of the bits and pieces I needed. Yesterday, a package arrived in the mail- - - -containing a front and rear sight base, and a stock nose cap and the correct attaching screw - - - - -no charge! I guess it's just a matter of getting through to the right person. I am very impressed, considering my previous experiences with Ruger!

Congtatulations. THAT was a good bit of luck. They don't always come off as helpful. There is always hope when you hear a story like this. Be Well, RZ.
