Apparently it does to the Nation Guard because they have never confiscated firearms. Some dudes take the oath pretty seriously. Some. Is some the majority? The ones you know, and I know, of course. How about all the rest. The sample folks like you and I would know are like minded individuals. How about all the ones from the inner city and urban areas? Think they give a [bleep] about the 2nd or a bunch of rural “racist” white boys and their “rights”? Simple question, would you kill your friends and neighbors? 2nd question have you served in the U.S. military or been a sworn LEO? mike r I wouldn’t even consider law enforcement as a career. Poverty never excited me much. So you are pretty much talking out of your ass w/ no basis in experience. Have you ever sworn an oath to protect the constitution or your fellow citizens? Some have and take it rather seriously. YMMV mike r “Some” maybe. Most are on a power trip. Are you one of the LEO’s that refers to us as “civilians”? If so, GFY. The questions remains simple. Would you kill your friends and neighbors over a matter of politics? Which are on a " power trip" based on your depth of experience in LE and/or the military. Have you ever sworn to uphold the U.S. Constitution. After you answer I will consider the physical feasability of GFY. PS. I am, and always have been one of "us' no matter what was worn on a sleeve. mike r

The low iq, is rampant in this thread. The narrative runs deep. Lets fix that.

Burns is plainly lucid, well read, and on tact.
>> no sarcasm << Very true. I appreciate his perspective just as I do yours and many others here. Like John Burns said, I just want everyone to obey their oath to the Constitution. It seems so simple but it’s proven to be virtually impossible for politicians and judges to do while young men still wet behind their ears are well versed in its importance and willing to give their life for it.
Politicians are the lowest form of life on earth. Liberal Democrats are the lowest form of politician. General George S. Patton, Jr.

Do you support the people that have supported you for the last year during the riots or do you support the politicians that have told the rioters that throw brick at you to keep going...

It is the crooks letting everybody know who has the power so we should all just shut up and kneel. Yup and to show how dangerous the right is and to establish prescedence on what to expect in the future in areas deemed "threatened by "right wing extremists"Look for that phrase to be worn out quickly in the coming days.

paycheck and pathway to pension before Oath Did you swear an oath and live by it? mike r I have not. I’ve also never ruined someone’s life for a burnt out tail light and a few beers, or a gun without a carry permit.

some will follow their oaths but others might not? I think most all will follow their oaths as they understand those oaths to be. Our concern should be not that they are deliberately violating their oath but rather that their interpretation of what they've sworn to uphold, what they have been told they have been swearing to uphold, is different than what the citizens of the US understand that they've sworn to uphold. Tom When I took the Oath at the age of 18, I didn't even know the particularities of the Constitution. During basic training and training thereafter, I learned to FOLLOW ORDERS of those commanding me. If my Lieutenant told me to bayonet a 16 yrs old girl for crossing over the line into our barracks, well, I best be making some blood flow pretty soon. I was young - I didn't know [bleep] - but I followed orders.

Actually Trump has to make a decision as the NG is under his command. He owns all the Troops in DC. Call the ball POTUS.

Plenty of jackholes with a burnt out tail light and “just a few beers” have killed innocent people. Pretty lame argument.

Fragging of stupid Lt.s is an old tradition in the combat arms. A lawful order is a real thing and is what is sworn to when taking the oath. YMMV, and probably will. mike r

No not really, now we see if the guard support the people or if they support the government. Not a lot of difference to me either way. When Trump makes the call and the Nat Guard drops the ball you will have a point. Call the Ball POTUS, it's on you and you wanted to be right here, right now. An amazing point in history. I am an optimist.
