Does anybody know what the barrel dimensions are of a Winchester Model 70 Alaskan Rifle? I found a long action stock for a Alaskan model, I would like to put my New Haven Model 70 in that stock, and was wondering if the barrel channel would be to large or to small to accept the 26"sporter barrel. Hoping to find out this way, other than paying for a stock that will not work for my rifle.
Thank you for any input in advance.

It should be OK.. I sold a couple to a family about 3 years ago and while the contour might be slightly larger than the sporter (because they came with iron sights) I doubt it will be excessive..

Just a little more freefloat and that doesn't hurt a damn thing.... If not, it is so simple to remove material from the barrel channel of a stock. There sure are a lot of guys that can't do a simple task like this that it keeps you in business. You must love those guys..
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I can't critique the accuracy of the answer here, but I can the value of the question. A lot of territory 'potentially' in terms of sub-models, barrel weights/contours here. Hope it works out for you! Best & stay safe!

to follow up on this. My rifle fit perfectly into the Alaskan stock. There was no in letting needed. Had to buy the adapter for my 2 piece bottom metal, that was a bit tight, but it went together nicely. Barrel is free floated to just before the lug. Turned out quite nice.
