My boss asked me if I’d make his son a knife for his birthday. I know the kid would like a bigger knife so went with it. First one in about a year and first with my 2x42 grinder. So much to learn but going from a 4x36 to a 2x42 was a huge improvement. Simple 1084 steel due to having only basic heat treat abilities. Skated the file real well and seems to hold a good edge. Lots of little imperfections as it I’m trying hell to learn patience. The leather work is getting more fun also. Gonna have to try some different patterns next time.

Outstanding! Steel and leather work. Wish I had the time and talent to develop that level of skill.

I watched a 25 min YouTube video yesterday on the basics of making sheaths. It really made sense and now the sheath work is as interesting to me as making the knife.

Man, that’s great. I still treasure the custom made-by-friend blade my dad gave me when I was 13. That’ll serve the kid well.
