There are always going to be people that love guns and people that hate guns. No matter what. It's the people in the middle that matter and eventually decide policy.
Doing stupid s h i t like storming the capitol building, showing up at state capitols brandishing black guns and masks, talking about revolution and insurrection and succession and violently overthrowing the government pushes the middle to the left. We need the middle or we are going to lose our rights and we will have nobody to blame but our own dumb azzes. You all want to keep your guns?

When enough people are convinced gun owners are militants and terrorists and not hunters and recreational shooters, then the guns are gone. I am not in favor of storming the Capital and trespassing. That said peaceful protests have serious power. STFU probably leads to the lefties getting more bold and ANTIFA running rampant in your neighborhood. Follow the law and stand up for your rights. Seems simple. Or, exercise your rights, or lose them forever.

I doubt my 6.5 RSAUM would qualify as a sniper rifle, it's only got a 14X scope on it. They would not be interested. I'm good. They're only after like 50BMGs and up, like that T-rex gun and stuff like that. Just relax, all is good. We now have benevolence and inclusiveness on our side the news is even saying so, new era and stuff. Last I checked, inclusiveness, means all of us. I remember this guy that used to come on here under the name of Paddler...super proud of his Pilates Queen shotgun. He understood. They weren't coming after 'his' gun. You just need a 'reasonable gun'. That's my take.

Right on most counts. However, it has become painfully obvious that there is no rule of law, only rule by force. Confusing one for the other has put a lot of folks in the ground. Standing up for your rights will, and often already does, put one at odds with the “law”. Following the “law” in such cases is a de facto surrender of your rights. Americans are going to have to realize that their government is illegitimate, and therefore carries no force of law. And then Americans wil, have to learn how to respond to that.

A bolt action rifle with a telescope on it and capable of a 300 yard shot will be a sniper rifle and a weapon of war only needed by the military. Just wait. There has already been some angst over private ownership of scoped rifles. 300 yd shots don’t require a scope.

They'll go after anything resembling a weapon, as we all know. But it is true that "long range hunters" deserve some blame if "sniper rifles" get banned. Bragging about half-mile hunting was and is stupid. As well as - this is my personal opinion - totally unethical. That is fkn stupid, congratulations!

Personally, I want to keep with the inclusive 'spirit' of our new era. There is no reason I should be deprived of hunting when reasonable accommodations can be made...that being an optical enhancement to accommodate changes in my vision. I prefer Leica for that prescription.

For me 300 yards requires a scope and a rest, but my point was that any decent hunting rifle especially one sporting a telescopic sight will be designated as a sniper rifle not to be allowed in civilian hands.

Guns with reach or guns that shoot fast are bad guns and no good serf would ever want such guns. Flintlocks, Longbows, and lever actioned Savage 99s will save the 2nd A. On another fun note would be Joe Kidd is such a good movie cause Joe kills the shcitt out of the fascists at long range with a Sav 99 and at close range with a fast shooting Broomhandle.
