Yeah, and must wear fly screening of some sort around the face/head - the big blowies are a choking hazard smile

very nice collection Bugger! Is that the rem788 in the 44 mag? If so they were great guns, accuracy all over a ruger 357 or 44/77

From our Big Game Rifle Nationals in 2014 - black powder big bores, 45/110 is quite popular:

Look closely and you'll see some nice firearms, cough. cough...

Yep, that's a 788. I'd like to try it out on White tail this fall. I didn't draw any licenses in SD this last year until the 3rd or 4th draw. (The lottery draw system South Dakota has really sucks.) I should move back to Montana or Wyoming. (I applied for Muzzle Loading, East River, West River, Black Hills - white tail and or Mule Deer. I applied for antelope, elk, sheep, goats - nothing except on the third or fourth draw I did get doe tags in the opposite corner of the state.)

I have a Marlin 44 and I think I'll do some testing / comparing the Marlin with the Remington when the weather gets a little better. I've had two Ruger 44's both semi-autos. They have their place, but no longer in my safe. Maybe if I lived in the woods again... I sort of need a 357 rifle, don't know which to get.

gunner500,

The Mauser .458WM is a bute ! That background presentation and lighting is fantastical too.
I want to see the M70 .458WM+ and the 400 H&H, for starters, please.
The image gallery here at 24hrcampfire is great. Even a caveman can do it.

Bugger, this topic has been argued to death over on Leverguns.com, I personally prefer the Winchester M1892 with 20 inch barrel as seen below with my M19 Combat Magnum:
[Linked Image from jpgbox.com]

Browning 1892 is good too.

PS Very nice 1885 .45-90. You can load that baby up to African power! 450s at 2150 or more.

10-4 CRS, just needed where the group wanted to start, I consider Big Bores 458 cal with 500 grains and up.

Ron, i'll get those to You now, will start at 8 Bore and work down to 40-65 Sharps, thanks for the account info, but we've no picture/bucket/e-mail/file storage anything here, this home computer is tied in with a giant network of computers at Wifes work at the hospitals, may be a security thing, I don't know, pics on the way.

My dad left me a ‘92 when he died in ‘75. I really like that rifle. I used it on varmints and small game all these years. I have a 357 S&W’s and a ‘92 would be nice!
That 1885 45-90 may be a little heavy for Africa hunting. Unless someone else carried it.

Since no big-bore autoloaders yet, I offer up me Browning BAR .458 Win mag(a):
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

It was created in 1974 by Atchinson Gun Co., and was featured in Guns & Ammo magazine in 1974:

I recall reading about it in G&A magazine in 1974 when I was 14, and was salivating over it! 46 years later I find it for sale and buy it!;)

Desertoakie,

On this bigbore porn thread, .458 WM chambering of a Sporter BAR, an M1 Garand, or a Stoner-style Omen would be be like the guest speaker at a hooker's convention.
I knew they exist, but wonder about the numbers made of each.
There is another wild looking semi-auto too, but they are all like fat chicks compared to your BAR.
Very good on you.
