What scope would you reccomend for strictly load development?

SWFA SS 5-20X50. It's a little expensive to be dedicated for that sole purpose; but, it really does the job well. I'm one who thinks higher magnification is ideal for load development. The tracking and adjustments work and work correctly. It is, in my opinion, an/the ideal scope for load development, well, other than the cost for the average Joe.

Hard to argue against this. Reliable, accurate adjustments, cheap.
What fresh Hell is this?

years ago, before i had money, i got a tasco 6x24x50 at a gunshow, amazing price. well it holds zero but it's like looking thru a rainbow, so it went in the live and learn file. later, i got the idea you have, load development only, and it has been good for that use. if you can afford a better one, get it.

If it's just for load development, I'd not be afraid of the 12x or 16x, either.

I had a 6-20x50 Simmons Whitetail Classic that I used for years for load development before I could afford something better. It stayed on 20x and held zero just fine for load development off the bench on many rifles. I like at least 16x for load development.

If used is in your vocabulary...I would look for an early T series Weaver. There are two T-10's on ebay right now.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

I wouldn’t use anything less than 20X. Something with a fairly fine reticle and/or target dot (1/4 MOA or smaller). The whole point of load development is shooting tight groups and the higher the power, the easier this becomes. Also, it’s nice to be able to step out to 200-300 yards to confirm your loads. Shooting at distance will really help determine the keepers. You can’t do this with a 10-12X scope nearly as effectively. There’s 101 choices...pick one within your budget, read the reviews and go have fun.

I use a Weaver T-36 when working up loads for accuracy. For me, it is easier to hold on one tiny part of the bullseye with the 36x magnification.

About 5 years ago I toasted a barrel on one of my long range varmint rifles, while I have been dragging my feet getting a new barrel I have used the scope off this rifle to do load development on 6 different rifles, right now I have it on an AR-15 !!!!!!!!!! I'm sure the Fhuqking Leupy hater mafia on this site will disagree as always, but it is a Leupold variX III 8.5x25x50 LR that tracks perfectly. makes it much easier for load development having 25x than something of lesser magnification.

Yeah, a guy working up a load for his 303 Savage '99 will do so much better with 25x than 6x.

Yeah, a guy working up a load for his 303 Savage '99 will do so much better with 25x than 6x. You say it and laugh. I say it and shake my head... You don't need anything more than a 3-9x40 for developing loads. Guys say they can shoot 600 yards with a 4x scope, but need a 20-25x rifle scope to develop loads. This place is never not fu cking funny. If not ridiculously funny...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

That's my point. What can the "system" resolve?
A lot of the time these "load development scope" questions are asked without context. Load development for a 100 yard 6PPC bench gun? Load development for Savage 99 in 303?
There are set ups in which more magnification can be counterproductive.
