Which scopes can you think of that have etched glass reticles? Asking about hunting not tactical type and under $700

I believe Leupold VX3i are etched as well as their VX-6,VX-5HD and 6HD. The original Zeiss Conquest MC, Meopta Meopro and Cabelas Instinct are all basically the same scope and are etched reticles. I think Tract Toric are as well. I find it interesting that expensive scopes like Swarovski Z3 are not. I find that at times the light of the day will cause most wire reticles to wash out or turn a gold or almost transparent color. Not all do. I’ve had Pentax whitetail unlimited and Burris Fullfield 2 that don’t. I believe it has something to do with how far in from the eye piece the reticle is mounted but not sure. I don’t remember the Sightrons I had doing it but can’t be for sure. My BUSHNELL Elites do it except for the Firefly model. It’s light absorbing coating keeps it from reflecting light and keeps it jet black in any lighting condition.

My VX-5 HD 2-1 has fuzzies allover the reticle, etched or not. Since otherwise it works, I’m half-afraid to send it in for fear they’ll futz up something else.

No they aren't. I have a couple. Just got a tract toric. Big difference between the two. Tired of watching the vx3 wash out at last light and not be visible. I looked through a new 3.5-10x44 meopro the other day it the reticle seemed to be very comparable to the vx3in that it would get that bronze look to it in certain light.

I wasn’t positive about Leupold VX3i being etched but seems like I read the regular Duplex reticles were electraform or something like that and that the more complicated reticles like Boone and Crocket, Varmit Hunter, Mildot etc...were etched glass.

Hawke
Tract Japanese models Not all of the Hawke's are etched, so if you are looking, check the specs. I recently bought a Hawke Vantage 3-9x40 AO thinking it was etched. It was for an airgun. It was wire, broke in under 50 shots. Have another Hawke 3-12x44 SF, it is an etched reticle. It's holding up so far....500+ shots on a magnum spring airgun.

Konus scopes, many models have etched reticle's. Airgun safe supposedly.

Mine are all Endurance models, but you’re correct. Thanks. I’ve avoided the Vantage models. Hawke air-gun scopes are highly regarded, but scopes that aren’t designed for springers will crap in short order. Even the allegedly super-tough Vortex Sparc 2 finally lost zero on my Air King. Don’t think it’s busted, just jumped the tracks. An Endurance LER lost zero on my Mini -14 before I installed buffers. Won’t be going back there.

There’s honestly too many to list now. The wire reticle is soon to be a thing of the past except for the el cheapo bargain scopes.
