I think you can send the fake ones in for a reticle change or turret exchange. Leupold, not so much right now.

I have many Leupolds, the USA made, real ones. I’d rather buy a quality scope with a great warranty, than a pos fake.

I've heard some people had them break and sent them back to Leupold only to be told they werent Leupold and they had no record of such serial numbers being used on similar scopes.

Im not advocating purposely buying one since there are cheaper trusted brands out there. Im wondering if any were bought by mistake, put to use since they had it and how they compared. Dont get it twisted.

Please post a link to a known Fauxpold Ebay has them all the time. LIterally all the time . Havent checked in a while, but its well known and when I kept track, was common. You are exactly right, the fake Leupold’s are on EBay all the time and the problem is that EBay lets the seller’s get away with it. You can’t leave negative feedback once refund is issued. You leave negative feedback before refund and you don’t get refund. I got one last year, what a POS You can leave negative feedback after you get a refund. Click on "Purchase History" and scroll down. I have had to do this twice in the past month. Only about four times total in fifteen years.

I got a fake Leupold in yesterday - used - from a guy online. Apparently, I didn't search well enough because the VX-3i 4.5-14x50 is one of the popular fakes from several years ago. It is pretty decent but it has a few giveaways. I have since seen a few unboxing videos of guys who bought them on purpose. They come with $5 see through rings, LOL. This was just a scope in a package for $260 that was supposed to be fair. I'm pretty mad at falling for it, but it was bought through a site that holds the buyers money in escrow until the buyer releases it. I'll be confirming the SN is bad tomorrow, then filing my claim.
It is pretty solid feeling but there are a couple giveaways that I can see now that it's in my hands.

Had a clearly fake MK IV a decade ago. Used it on a 308 and was ok-ish but lens quality and glare was significant. The reticle was some sort of a crossbow ranging thing.
Got another one, last year. This time it looked strikingly similar to the real thing. The quality of the image has gone down and the eye box was narrower. Image was like a cheap air gun scope
I think this was the end for my fake endeavour. More curiosity. Zero practicality.
