Anyone own one of these, and/or have some pictures?
They were a little single shot made by Stevens between around 1932-1940. The sporting version of the 417.
Some were in .22 Hornet, which is what I'm hoping to find.
I like the way the rifle sounds on paper, but since I haven't seen one, I don't know if I'll like the way it looks enough to buy one. Surely it can't be too ugly...

I had a beauty in .22 long rifle. Didn't last long. Nice, nice guns.

Thanks!
Doesn't look too bad I guess. Not too crazy about that lever though..
I wish the 418 came in .22 Hornet.

Oh, I see what you mean. I was thinking something on the gun wore out. No, I don't have one. I wonder how many were made in .22 Hornet. Does anyone have a book that lists it? In the various books I have where there's mention of the gun, it doesn't give that much info, but they're not Stevens/Savage specific books.

Shooting Lady, they are not a very common rifle. Hard to find a good one and when you do it will be costly. A good friend has one just about like new, he paid over a thousand for it several years ago. If you do find one, have the headspace checked before buying. Dave
