Buddy of mine has a Weatherby vanguard he's setting up. He needs a scope option. I told him a leupold 3.5-10, 4 -12 or 4.5-14. I was raised on Leopold and stick with them

Most hunting will be deer and some bear. Shots won't be more than 150 yards here in Peeyay.... Every now and then a field shot at 200-300.

May travel every couple years for a deer hunt..

What would you guys dress it up with if your scope budget was 400ish

My 300 WM is used in dense cover where a shot will rarely eclipse 300 yds and as such has a Leica 2.5-10 on it. Great glass, stays zeroed and is tough as hell

If your a Leupold guy with a $400 budget any of the scopes you mentioned will do nicely or even a VX Freedom 3-9x40 would do a great job.....Good hunting....Hb

I've blew up a lot of scopes on my 300 win mag. Leupold, Redfield , Bushnell, Vortex . Meopta is the only one that is still working.

A couple of years ago, I put an SWFA SS 10x on my re-stocked and bedded Browning X-Bolt 300 wm. It is one of the few hunting rifles I have that I was happy to install a heavier scope. The SS 10x has good glass, and tracks really well. I have dialed it out to 300 yards and I'm sure with a little practice it would work well past this distance. I 'm not a big fan of dialing for hunting and I have figured out how to use the subtensions on the SS for shooting out to 300 yards as well. My only gripe is that it doesn't have a zero stop unless you're willing to do a modification. If you like dialing, it is a great scope for the money.

For those ranges you done need more than 10 power. As someone said 2.5-10 will cover all that. I’d be looking at meopta as well. Nothing wrong with vx3 3.5-10. Get CDS, zero at 200 and you’re good to go long ways in case you come out west

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.
