With what the originals sell for these days, I’d sooner have this one.

I am a Remington fan, but I would go with the model 70''

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Toss the coin an odd number of times.

Toss the coin an odd number of times.

It is going to come down to stock fit and between hands handling. If that fails I will toss the coin five times.

I can not because they never come up for sale here. The only thing I examined that is close was old .270 Winchester FN Mauser sporter from late 1940s early 1950s (peep rear sight, receiver not tapped for scope mounts). Excellent quality on par with Winchester Super grade of that time, but with oppressive weight and poor handling.

The pluses for Winchester are lower price, iron sighs, 2,5cm longer barrel and plastic butt plate which I prefer instead of rubber recoil pad. The pluses for Remington are like new rifle with more modern looks. I am thinking another Winchester, but should I take a closer look at the Remington. Thanks for your input.

Why not? .... Themz good old classic rifles without paying the pre-64 M70 premium.

I stumbled upon a 721 BDL in 300H&H last year and bought it. It came back from the blacksmith last week after an overall tune-up and replacement vintage pad. Leupold M8 4x showed up in the mail today, so it's coming all together.

Those plus 700 classic are the best buy in old .300H&H. The other one is Winchester XTR made in the 1980s. These can be found for less because Winchester collectors do not want them. There are other options like Husqvarna, Czechoslovak ZKK and Sako rifles so chambered, but most probably went to English, Australian or African markets, therefore, will be marked rare and expensive when found on US or European market. If the rifle is in excellent mechanical order there is no going wrong. Finding something with barrel worn out from shooting will be difficult which is very good.
