So I'm wanting to restock my Winchester 770 to one with a floorplate. It shows stocks for models with a 1pc floorplate or a 2pc. Which one do I want to get if I wish to use the screws I have? Will my follower and mag well work? Thank you for any advice. Stay safe

I just put my blind mag winchester model 70 ( walmart model 70 from the 1990's) in a stock that was designed for a 1 pc floor plate, had purchased a 2 pc bottom metal from a user here. So I had to purchase the adapter so that my 2 pc floor plate would work with the stock I bought. I was told by a another member here, if I were to have purchased the 1 pc bottom metal, that the screw in front of the trigger would be omitted. If I were to do it again, I would have just purchased the 1 pc bottom metal. The adapter was kind of tight, but it did slip in just fine. The follower spring slipped into the bottom metal just fine, and the existing mag box worked just fine for me as well. Mine had a plastic follower, that I ended up swapping out for a steel follower that I had laying around in my junk box.

Again that was for a Winchester Model 70 Blind mag ( like the ones walmart used to carry) , not real sure how much a model 770 differs. Good luck. Mine turned out great.

Your existing screws should work in whichever stock you choose to use.

No not a Boyds, it is a stock from a BACO Winchester Model 70 Alaskan. I dropped my new haven Connecticut model 70 into it and it fit just about perfect. There is just a little bit of slop in it, and the action moves about a 1/16 inch back and forth with no screws in it. I plan to bed the recoil lug to reduce that slop.

I got the stock from Ebay
