Have a couple of Zastava M70 LR Mauser 98's. Would like to change out the current slot head action screws for Hex/Socket head screws like I've done on all of my Ruger 77's.

Been digging around the interweb for a couple of hours and seems no one is currently making any except one place wanting over $20 plus shipping for two freak'n screws.

Anyone have any better leads they'd be willing to share?

I have some blued gunsmith socket head blanks that you can thread or get your local machine shop to do - needs to be 1/4-22 and you can find a die on Ebay for around $15-$20 shipped. PM me if you like.

Thanks for the offer, much appreciated.

Not in a hurry to "get r dun". If I'm patient, I'll find some ready made ones, someplace. I don't pull the actions/stocks apart that often. I do like them on the Rugers I've converted over. Seams no matter how careful I am, over time, I seam to bugger up the edges of the slots. Cosmetic more than functional issue.

I searched for about 6 mos. & finally obtained one set from a member here. I've since gone the blank & die route as Offshoreman suggested & now have all I need. No I DO NOT make them for sale.

The B Square part number for those Allen screws is STM98. They are "discontinued- - -no longer available" according to Brownell's. PM me if you're interested in an alternative solution.

A 1/4-22 threading die from Victor Machinery Co. costs $11.50. 1/4" Allen screws can be bought in any length from a local hardware store. Buy screws with a long enough shank that the threaded part can be cut off, then rethread the straight part of the screw and cut it to the correct length. That one investment in a die can make it possible to make bunches of screws.
