You guys got me interested in the S&B Polar. i currently own a S&B 4x mounted on a slug barrel and a 1.5-6x42 on my son’s .223 for coyote.
Are you using it for specific game or general low light conditions?
Rail mount vs standard?
I have a Swarovski 3-12x50 on my 300WSM that i will use for moose this fall if we get across the border.

Thanks

Steve

The 56 objective must provide a ton of light and FOV.

You don't need a 56 to get a ton of light when using a Polar. I had a 2-10x50 and made a 220 yard shot basically at the last minute of shooting light without any problem whatsoever. I now own a Classic 3-12x50 and equally impressed with it. I have owned/own all big objective Alpha scopes including Meopta r1 and the Polar Was the brightest of them all. The next one was a Zeiss Victory HT 2-10x50.

Oldelkhunter is correct: with the highest-end glass, a 50mm will generally do everything you could possibly need. I had both the 50 and 54mm Polars and actually preferred the 2.5-10x50 over the 3-12x54. I used it in moonlight many times with terrific results. Your 3-12x50 Swaro is nothing to sneeze at, either, and one of my favorites, especially with a #4 reticle.

Bobby, I had turrets on my Polar and wished it did not have them since this was a used as a point and shoot scope just for bean fields.

Oldelkhunter-

Some of the offerings/combinations by S&B can make one scratch their head and wonder sometimes LOL. I recall at one point when the only versions of the Polar in stock here in the states had the target-type turrets.

I thought I was the only one that preferred capped turrets on a hunting rifle.

My turrets are capped also.....this rifle will be "set it & forget it" as to scope adjustments.

Agree with everything above. My 4-6x56 could get me in serious trouble here in Louisiana with legal shooting times. My elevation is locking tactical but windage is capped.

I was looking at the 2.5-10x50 to mount on my 6.5x55. I really like the FD 9 reticle. If anyone is selling i may have to dig in to my pockets.

Driggy sold me a MINOX ZX 5 2-10 x40 and it will be mounted on my A 17 Savage for coyote hunting. I’m impressed with the scope.

The FD9 is a flash dot reticle and not available in the Polar series. The reticles for the Polar are the "D" series, and there are only a limited number of choices.

As to the Minox ZX5, yes, those are terrific scopes. If yours is the illuminated model and depending on when it was made, there may be a 60-second technique to adjust to an even dimmer illumination curve. If you want more details on that, drop me a line. It's not something they advertise much, and I don't recall the procedure being in their manuals.

Following! On a side note I’d love a 4x S&B someday. Anyone decide to sell theirs give me a shout!

Bobby,
I plan on visiting in Smithville, Bastrop area in November. Where do you recommend for pig hunting?
